Dear Griffin Families,

Our school year has finally hit the spring semester and our Bulldogs are continuing to grow and learn with their teachers! We saw progress with our students after their mid year reading and math diagnostic tests and we look forward to them continuing to grow and prepare for the next level.

I would like to thank all of our 3rd - 5th grade parents who have signed up for our Parent STAAR Nights this week. These meetings will provide you with the knowledge of how the state will test your child and how you can best support your child at home. We will also provide free childcare and dinner for all who participate. If you have a student in 3rd - 5th grade and have not yet registered for this event, I ask that you strongly consider doing so. Please see link for registration in the "Upcoming Events" section.

You are invited to celebrate Black History Month with us at out annual Griffin Black History Month celebration on February 20th! Our students will showcase their talents through music and art! We will also have local Black-Owned business present showcasing their products. The event will take place from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.

Ms. Roberson was elected by her peers as Griffin's Teacher of the Year! She was selected for her effectiveness as a teacher as well as for her leadership on campus. She will compete for District Teacher of the Year next. Our Tyler ISD Teacher of the Year will be announced in late March.

Our teachers and staff have created a Positive Behavior Intervention System to reinforce our behavioral and academic goals. Our campus uses the LiveSchools app to reward students for a variety of things ranging from wearing uniforms and attendance to making growth or achieving highly on assessments. Students are able to use their points to purchase things from our Bulldog Leadership Store OR experiences such as having lunch with Officer Deaver, feeding Mr. Ladd a bug, or getting a free-dress pass.

Recently, our neighbors at Flint Baptist donated $500 towards our Griffin Bulldog Leadership Store!

We started a new tradition over the fall: Students and Staff of the Month Recognition. Teachers and staff nominate students and colleagues who demonstrate leadership and a dedication to learning. See pictures below for our November, December, and January honorees.
