Message from Mr. Imbusch Message from Mr. Imbusch

Dear students, staff, and parents/guardians:

I have mentioned Artificial Intelligence (AI) several time in these eNotes, and I have referenced 'Large Language Models' such as 'Chatgpt'. Although our students are likely very familiar with the various large language models available to them, many of you might be asking some basic questions such as "What is Chatgpt anyway, and how does it work?"

This short video/infographic by Grant Sanderson ("Large Language Models Explained Briefly” in 3Blue1Brown, November 20, 2024) attempts to explain the inner workings of large language models like ChatGPT. It's a great start if you are just dipping your toe in the water!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Stephen Imbusch

Principal

UNICEF Club

UNICEF and the Red Cross club are preparing for their upcoming 2nd annual Halloween fundraiser “Monsters on a Mission.” “Monsters on a Mission” is a community event in which Walpole High student volunteers meet together in Bird Park to create a trick-or-treat trail for families to walk through and learn about some of the missions that both organizations work to accomplish. This year, the event will be taking place on Saturday, October 25th with student volunteer shifts starting at 4:00 pm and ending at 7:00 pm. The public will be walking through the trails from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Students interested in participating can reach out to UNICEF president Sara Axelrod and Red Cross President Leila Le. Volunteer sign-ups are open until UNICEF’s next afterschool meeting on Monday October 20th.

The Photography Club will meet on October 23rd after school. The theme is a brand new theme we have never done before, sidewalks. If you walk to school then you have the perfect opportunity to get a picture of a sidewalk. If not, get outside, the weather is supposed to be great. The sidewalks should be pretty this time of year with the leaves changing. Maybe you will see something interesting, a pretty house, tree, or anything that will make a cool picture. So get outside to take the pictures and come to the club, I like to see you here. Follow our instagram to see our pictures the club takes: @photography_whs123
