Have a great summer, Titans!
It has been a remarkable year filled with growth, achievements, and memorable experiences for our entire school community.
I am immensely proud of our students, whose dedication and hard work have shined bright throughout the year. Whether it was in the classroom, on the field, or on the stage, our students have demonstrated their exceptional talents and abilities.
I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to our outstanding educators and staff members. Their passion for teaching, their commitment to providing a nurturing learning environment, and their tireless efforts to support our students' growth and development have been instrumental in creating another successful year. Their dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are fortunate to have such a dedicated team guiding our students toward their full potential.
Of course, none of our achievements would have been possible without the unwavering support of our families. Your involvement, encouragement, and partnership have been crucial in fostering a strong and vibrant school community. Whether it was attending school events, volunteering your time, or just simply supporting your children's education, your commitment has made a significant difference in their lives. Thank you for entrusting us with their education and for being active participants in their journey.
As we bid farewell to this school year, let us remember the cherished memories we have created together. We have made this another extraordinary year, and I am truly honored to serve as your Superintendent. May you all have a restful and rejuvenating summer, filled with joy, laughter, and beautiful moments shared with loved ones.
Be safe, be kind, and ALWAYS be a Titan!

Full-Scale Comprehensive Safety Drills on June 6, 7, & 8
To our Titans Community,
We are writing to inform you about an upcoming event that will take place in our school district. As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and the entire community, we will be conducting 3-day full-scale comprehensive safety drills on June 6, 7, and 8.
The purpose of these drills is to simulate realistic emergency scenarios and test our emergency response procedures. These comprehensive exercises will involve various emergency services, including local law enforcement, fire departments, and medical personnel, working in collaboration with school district personnel.
Date: June 6-8, 2023
Time: 12:30-4:00 p.m.
Locations:
Berea-Midpark High School (June 6)
Berea-Midpark Middle School (June 7)
Brook Park Elementary School (June 8)
During the drills, you may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles, personnel, and simulated emergency situations in and around our school buildings. We want to emphasize that this is only a practice exercise and not a real emergency. Please do not be alarmed by any of the activities you may witness during the drill.
It is essential for us to conduct these drills periodically to evaluate our emergency response plans, identify areas for improvement, and enhance our overall preparedness. By doing so, we can ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone in our school district.
We kindly request your cooperation and understanding during the drills. We encourage you to refrain from entering the designated drill areas and to follow any instructions given by authorized personnel to ensure the smooth running of the exercises.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we believe that these drills are crucial in maintaining a high level of readiness. We greatly appreciate your support and understanding as we strive to create a safe learning environment for all.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming full-scale drills, please do not hesitate to contact Mike Draves, Assistant Superintendent at 216-898-8300 or mdraves1@bereaschools.org.
Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing support.
Sincerely,
Tracy L. Wheeler

The Polaris Career Center Satellite Marketing & Entrepreneurship and Broadcasting & Video Production programs, located at Berea-Midpark High School, placed first in the Impact Teen Drivers “Just Drive” Social Media Campaign. The Just Drive Contest is an exciting opportunity for young people to promote safe driving among their peers, parents, and in their community. The Just Drive Contest is made possible by NJM Insurance Group.
Their entry, “Distracted Driving… Don’t Make It Your Thing,” was recognized for its concept and creativity, execution and effectiveness of message. The students worked hard to create a week-long campaign highlighting the dangers of distracted driving. They developed the concept, plan, infographics, social media posts, PSA videos and posters. With the help of Impact Teen Drivers’ Director of Strategic Partnerships, Heidi Dean, the students presented to over 400 students about the dangers of distracted driving. They partnered with the Berea-Midpark High School School Resource Officers and University Hospitals’ Safe Kids/Safe Communities to host a fair during lunch to educate students on the dangers of distracted driving. The winning campaign was implemented in March. As the winners, the programs were awarded a $10,000 educational grant.

The Berea Board of Education holds regular community conversations to give the public access to board members outside of the formal public participation setting of a meeting. Residents will have the opportunity to meet and discuss any concerns they may have with two board members during a 30 minute time-slot set aside prior to each regular scheduled Board of Education meeting. The goal of this effort is to more effectively connect with the public and learn more about the community.
