"When schools thrive, communities thrive."
A Message From Dr. Lisa Krueger...
Celebrating Our Board of Education: Thank You for Your Service
October is Board of Education Recognition Month, an opportunity to recognize and thank the dedicated volunteers who serve our school community as members of the Board of Education.
Serving on a Board of Education is a commitment that extends far beyond attending meetings. Our Board members generously give their time, energy, and expertise to help guide the future of our schools and ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. As unpaid volunteers, they balance their Board responsibilities with their own careers, families, and personal commitments, all while working on behalf of our students, staff, and community.
The impact of our Board of Education is felt throughout our entire District. From establishing policies and overseeing the District’s budget to supporting our educators and planning for the future, Board members make thoughtful decisions that shape the educational experiences of our students. They bring different perspectives to the table, ask important questions, and work collaboratively to make decisions that reflect the needs and priorities of our community.
This October, we extend our sincere appreciation to each member of our Board of Education for their leadership, dedication, and countless hours of service. Their willingness to serve is a meaningful contribution to our District and the families we are proud to serve.
Thank you to the West Seneca Central School District’s Board of Education for investing your time, sharing your talents, and helping make our schools a place where students and our community thrive.
With West Seneca Pride,
Dr. Lisa Krueger

Inclusion in Action: WSW Unified Club Enjoys Behind-the-Scenes Highmark Stadium Tour
Members of the West Seneca West High School Unified Club and Unified Athletes recently enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at the new Buffalo Bills Highmark Stadium!
During their educational tour, students toured the Bills locker room, stepped inside the workout facilities, explored the post-game media room, and even got to walk out onto the field. Beyond the excitement of exploring the stadium, the day highlighted what Unified Sports and the Unified Club is all about: building strong friendships, promoting inclusion, and fostering an environment where every student feels valued and included.
A special thank you to Mr. Brinker, Miss Bonetto, Miss Willman, and Mrs. Smith for guiding our students on this fantastic trip, and to our students for representing West Seneca so proudly!
Take a look at a couple of highlights and smiling faces from their stadium tour below!

Student Voice, Community Impact: A Safer West Seneca!
Great news for our West Seneca community! New York State has announced $1.7 million in federal funding for pedestrian safety improvements near West Seneca West Senior High School!
The project will bring new sidewalks, curb ramps, and crosswalks to the intersection of Ridge Road and Seneca Street—creating safer, more accessible routes for our students, families, and community members. While a construction timeline hasn't been finalized yet, we will keep everyone updated as details are confirmed.
This exciting development is thanks to the incredible advocacy of West Seneca West Class of 2025 graduate Richie Schack. Back in 2024, Richie rallied support and gathered roughly 400 signatures to push for safer crossings. His hard work and persistence truly paid off!
Richie's initiative is a powerful example of student voice in action and the positive impact our students can have on the communities around them. What began as one student's determination to make a difference is now paving the way toward a safer West Seneca for everyone!

Building Connections: West Elementary Students Discover the "Superpower" of Hearing
Curiosity turned into an incredible learning experience at West Elementary School when Special Education Teacher Rachel Cooke and Hearing Teacher Tina Wyant turned a student’s unique hearing device into a lesson on empathy, science, and inclusion.
When students in Miss Cooke’s class began asking questions about their classmate’s cochlear implant, Miss Cooke and Mrs. Wyant saw an opportunity to celebrate what makes each student unique. Mrs. Wyant designed an interactive craft activity that demonstrated how human ears process sound and showcased how cochlear implants help sound travel to the brain.
The hands-on lesson demystified the device for the students, transforming their natural curiosity into understanding and enthusiasm. By the end of the activity, the classroom was filled with excitement, with students eagerly asking when they might get their own "superpower" hearing devices!
Moments like these highlight the heart of our West Seneca school community - where teachers turn everyday questions into inspiring lessons of friendship, acceptance, and support.
Pictured below, students in Miss Cooke’s class proudly show off their customized cochlear implant crafts!
