JBE MAP TESTING BEGINS THIS WEEK

JBE will begin MAP testing THIS WEEK. We are hoping for perfect attendance each day in the grade level that is testing. Please make sure your student comes to school rested, fed and ready to rock the test. It is important for them to feel confident about the test and know that you believe in them!

Each student will have a testing rubric for each day and will have a chance to earn 10 minutes of kickball that day for each session (up to 30 minutes) based on their behavior, attitude, and effort. Thank you to PTO for sponsoring a Kona Ice reward at the end of May for 3rd-5th grade students that receive all of their points or only miss one on the rubric throughout the duration of testing.

Our teachers are working hard today to decorate the hallways and surprise the students with a Superhero theme. We know our students are testing Superheroes!

Mark your calendar for these upcoming dates!

  • 3rd Grade will test on Wednesday, April 27th & Thursday, April 28th.
  • 4th Grade will test on Wednesday, May 4th, Thursday, May 5th & Friday, May 6th.
  • 5th Grade will test on Wednesday, May 11th, Thursday, May 12th & Friday, May 13th.

Summer Book Boxes

Summer Book Boxes are coming. Sign up by Friday, May 6 for a Summer Book Box. Each box will contain a set of age appropriate books, summer STEAM activity sheet, and some fun goodies. Read the books and return them at Summer Library or when you come back in the fall for a chance to win a fun prize. Book Boxes will be sent home with student the week of May 23.

Volunteer Appreciation Week

Last week was volunteer appreciation week! We want to send a HUGE shoutout to all of the parents, community members and community organizations that work tirelessly to support our students and staff at JBE! JBE is a great place to work and learn and that is largely because of the support we receive from our parents and community! THANK YOU to all who help us help our students! You are appreciated!

Administrative Professionals Day - Wednesday, April 27th

We are blessed at JBE to have two amazing women in our office who love our kids, love our staff, and love our community! Please take the time to help us celebrate Ms. Cora and Mrs. Chris on Administrative Professionals Day this Wednesday. We are so thankful for their continued support, organization and caring hearts!

If you want, you can send them a kind message via e-mail at crandolph@mc-wildcats.org for Ms. Cora and cfuthey@mc-wildcats.org for Mrs. Chris.

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week - May 3rd-6th

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week and I need your help celebrating our staff at JBE! We have 33 staff members at JBE and I would like to show them some extra love as we wind down this school year. I have an idea, but I need parent and community support to make it happen.

The staff will be celebrated by a couple of organizations and businesses throughout the week, but I would like to see if we could collect enough donations to buy the staff lunch on Wednesday, May 4th from Frumpy Joe's. Frumpy's has been very generous to JBE this year with their Dine and Donate program on the first Wednesday of the month. It just so happens that Teacher Appreciation Week falls on the first Wednesday. I think this would be a great way to participate in their program that supports JBE and treat our faculty & staff.

Would you be willing to send in a few dollars to help buy lunch for our staff? I'm thinking we could use the theme, "May the Fourth Be With You: Yoda Best Staff in the Universe"

IF you can help spoil our staff with an order out lunch, please send your donation in an envelope labeled "Frumpy's Lunch Donation" and your name.

Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff!

School Nurse Appreciation Day - Wednesday, May 11th

This month is full of gratitude and Nurse Amanda deserves some of the love as well! Please help us celebrate her on School Nurse Appreciation Day on Wednesday, May 11th. We are so lucky to have her on our staff! She is kind, compassionate, and a great caregiver! If you are so inclined, please send her a message of appreciation at ahillebrand@mc-wildcats.org

Change the World Day - May 18th

JBE Student Council is excited to host this month's JBE Change the World Day! Students and staff are encouraged to wear a hat or "Wacky Hair" and bring "change" or a cash donation for Central Missouri Honor Flight!

JBE Field Day - May 20th

Weather permitting, we will be hosting JBE Field Day the afternoon of Friday, May 20th. Coach Rodgers is still working out details, but please watch Friday Folders closer to time for details of what to send with your student.

JBE 5th Grade Celebration - Tuesday, May 24th

Come help us Celebrate the Class of 2029 on Tuesday, May 24th at 6:00 pm. This WILL NOT be a ticketed event. We look forward to seeing you here to recognize the efforts and achievements of this year’s class.

JBE Kindergarten - 4th Grade End of Year Awards -Thursday, May 26th

We will be hosting an IN-PERSON End of the Year Awards Celebration on the last day of school, Thursday, May 26th. There will be no tickets for this event and doors will open at 8:05 for Kindergarten and then after each grade level is complete. You will be allowed to take a quick photo after your student's awards, but we will need to clear the gym quickly for the next celebration. Please be patient and respectful as we try this new format--we will do our best to start on time.

PTO Update

We are very fortunate to have an active and supportive PTO at Jonesburg Elementary. This group does a lot of work behind the scenes to provide awesome opportunities for our students. PTO helps support many of the activities that happen at Jonesburg Elementary. PTO also helps buy extra materials for classrooms to support learning and growth. PTO event dates are located in the Upcoming Dates section below. You can support PTO in a variety of ways including attending meetings and events, buying items from the fundraisers, and volunteering your time to help at events.

If you have questions about how to help the JBE PTO or are interested in getting involved, please let your student's teacher know or contact any of our PTO Officers. Stephanie Thomas, Cherysse Tucker, Rachel Hans, and Liana Wilson.

Upcoming Events:

Frumpy Joe's has donated over $700 since they began this program! We appreciate their support!

Field Trips

We have been given the tentative go-ahead to look into planning spring field trips. Teachers will share details as they become available! Please know that like with everything right now, plans are tentative and can change at any time.

Please know that if you plan to attend the field trip, you will need to fill out our volunteer application and pass the school-approved background check. This process does not happen quickly so if you are interested in attending the field trip, please contact your student's teacher or the JBE office for more information.

Box Tops

The Box Tops program has made it easier to collect Box Tops and support your school. Download the Box Tops App, select Jonesburg Elementary (our zip code is 63351), then scan your receipt after you go shopping. No more clipping and saving. You can track our progress on the app. We appreciate your support!

Breakfast and Lunch Menu

You can find the most up to date breakfast and lunch menus on the district website on the left side by clicking on the green box that says school menus. Make sure you choose Jonesburg Elementary! You can also click on this link to see the menus.

Attendance Letters & School Communication

This year, more than ever, it is important to keep your child home if they are sick. Please communicate with our office when you are keeping your student home. We may reach out and ask about symptoms etc. We are in constant communication with the Montgomery County Health Department for guidance and support.

I know that there is a certain amount of anxiety involved with receiving attendance letters from the school. Please know that we are mandated to mail attendance letters after your students 3rd, 5th and 8th absence. This DOES NOT mean that we are going to call the truancy officer. On the back of the letter you will see the dates of your students absence and the detail that we noted when you called in. As always, we will be in touch if we have specific concerns. Please continue to communicate with our office about your students attendance.
