Recently the Minnesota House and Senate released their education budget bills laying out their priorities for investments in education.
I'm pleased to share that the House and Senate include funding for MCEA's top priorities, although at different levels, as well as some other funding items of interest. The House and Senate education funding bills include:
· Increases for general community education revenue
· Funding for all school districts to offer adults with disabilities programs
· Increases for developmental screening aid
· Funding for voluntary prekindergarten
· Grants for Grow Your Own Early Childhood Educator programs to enhance and diversify the early childhood workforce
· Grants for after-school programming
· MDE ECFE staff support
It’s time to connect with decision-makers! To weigh in on our priorities click here to be directed to a website where you will enter your contact information and school district name. A crafted message will populate for you to send to legislators deciding on the final budget. You can send this alert as is or edit the message to include information relevant to your school district.
We will also be sharing an advocacy alert on issues relating to ongoing funding for child care stabilization grants and child care assistance in the next few days.
