What's New? What's New?

October 23rd, 2026

Hola Ada Vista familias,

Thank you all for a wonderful second night of parent-teacher conferences—it was fantastic connecting with so many of our school families. Another big shout-out to our PTO for providing the amazing food and to all the volunteers who helped cover teachers' after-school duties! As we look ahead, please see below for important details regarding our upcoming festivities on Friday, October 30th. Our district is also rolling out a new visitor management system, so you will find more details on that process below as well.

Finally, don't miss the latest updates from our art, music, STEAM and PE team—you can read a wonderful new publication from our Specials Teachers HERE!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Important Information Important Information

1. Halloween Parade/Harvest Details

Students' have two choices for the celebration on Friday October 31st. We will have a costume parade and classroom parties for Halloween, as well as a Harvest Festival which will include games, activities and refreshments of a non-Halloween nature. Please let the front office know if you’d like your child to participate in the Festival rather than the Halloween activities. For those participating in the Halloween activities, our Parade will start at 2pm. Families are invited to come view the parade outside, where you will be able to form a tunnel outside from the 4th grade doors to the Kinder doors to watch all of the students walk through; a parking map with "tunnel" instructions will be sent Thursday! Because of the large amount of families who attend this event, please consider parking in downtown Ada; our lot fills up quickly and it will be extremely hard to leave at the end of the day if there are people parked on Bradfield. After the parade, students will be in their classrooms (please refer to communication from teachers regarding classroom party specifics), and anyone who would like their student to leave early also needs to connect directly with the classroom teacher.

Halloween Costume Guidelines

As Halloween approaches, we're excited to see students’ costumes and celebrate a fun-filled day at school! Please send costumes to school with students. There will be time to change prior to the parade.

To ensure that all students feel safe, included, and comfortable, please keep in mind the following costume guidelines:

  1. Age-Appropriate: Costumes should be suitable for elementary school and avoid themes that are overly mature, scary, or inappropriate.

  2. Inclusive and Respectful: Let’s celebrate with costumes that bring joy and creativity.

  3. No Weapons or Violent Themes: Please leave toy weapons, scary props, masks or costumes that promote violence at home.

We look forward to a safe and enjoyable Halloween for all! Thank you for helping make this a positive experience for our students.

A Safer, Simpler Check-In

FHPS Implements a New Digital Visitor Management System Coming in November

As part of our ongoing commitment to safety and security, FHPS is introducing a new visitor management system in all of our schools this November. The system keeps track of who is in our buildings at all times, so we can continue providing a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and families.

When you visit any FHPS school during the school day, there are two important things to remember:

  1. Always enter through the main entrance and check in with the office staff.

  2. If your visit will take you beyond the main office, for example, to volunteer or read to a class, bring a valid government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license or state ID.

If you’ll be going beyond the office, here’s what to expect when you arrive:

  • Enter the secure vestibule area inside the main school entrance. Press the security door buzzer, and proceed to the main office. Scan your ID using the designated iPad and follow the directions posted at each iPad kiosk. If you need assistance, an office member can help you.

  • Scan your ID at the kiosk each time you visit.

  • The system reads your name, photo, and date of birth from your ID. It then runs a brief background check against the sex offender registry and any flags or local alerts entered by school personnel.

  • Once you’re cleared, the kiosk prints a visitor sticker. Visitors must wear their sticker where staff can easily see it throughout their visit, so staff knows you’re an approved visitor.

  • Before you leave, return your sticker to the front office and quickly scan out.

The entire check-in process typically takes less than 30 seconds.

Not every visit requires scanning in. If you’re stopping by briefly to drop off or pick up a student, or to make a delivery, you won’t need to use the system. FHPS employees also won’t scan in, because all district staff are already required to wear their FHPS ID badge at all times, enter through the main office, and check in with office staff before going further into the building. Furthermore, for larger school events, the check-in process will be more streamlined and communicated to families prior to these events, such as class parties or school fundraising walks, to name a few.

Behind the scenes, the new system replaces paper sign-in sheets with a secure digital process. It keeps a real-time record of everyone on campus, including when each visitor arrives and leaves. It also connects with PowerSchool, our student information system, and can generate reports for building administrators. If a visitor is flagged, the system immediately alerts an administrator so they can respond quickly and discreetly.

Most importantly, remember to bring your government-issued ID every time you plan to go beyond the school office. Our front office staff is always willing to assist. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe and welcoming for everyone.

Ada Vista Music Program

March 23, 2027

1st/2nd grades at 6:00 p.m.

3rd/4th grades at 7:00 p.m.

Please note: La Bamba will be sung with Alumni at the 7:00pm program only.

Toys & Pokemon Cards

Please remember that toys, trading cards (including Pokémon), and personal trinkets should stay safely at home. These items can easily become a major distraction in the classroom and, unfortunately, often end up lost, damaged, or misplaced during the school day. To keep learning focused and avoid any lost treasures, please help your child check their backpacks before leaving for school each morning. Thank you for your support and partnership!

Sipzee

Always have can returns waiting in your garage? Well look no further, AV has officially set up a partnership with Sipzee. They will come pick up your returnables from your house, and AV gets part of the return profits! You need approximately a garbage bag full of cans for them to come to your home, but as someone who has used this service before it is well worth it! AV gets 5 cents per can, the pickup person gets 4 cents and Sipzee only takes 1 cent! Go to THIS website to sign up for your first pickup and simply select "Donate to a local non profit and select Ada Vista" when you get to the page that asks how you would like to be paid.

***UPDATE: NOW YOU CAN DROP OFF YOUR CANS TO US! AV HAS A RECYCLING BIN OUTSIDE BY THE MAIN ENTRANCE LABELED "SIPZEE" THAT YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR CANS IN!***

Please make sure they're in a bag, that's all we ask!

BoxTops

Ada Vista is partnered with BoxTops! All you have to do is download the app, set up an account, connect to Ada Vista and scan your receipts. Even if you don't do it every time, when you do remember it helps!

Download Bus App

Bus route details will be available on the My Ride K-12 App. Please visit the FHPS Transportation website for more information.
