Attendance Matters
Attendance Challenge!
Get ready for our exciting new Attendance Challenge! This week, we are celebrating our September superstars who didn't miss a single day of school by awarding them with our September duckie! Going forward, everyone a chance to earn a surprise duckie! How do you win one? It's simple: be on time and at school every single day. Once a month, we will announce a secret "Duckie Day"—and if you are in class when that special day is revealed, you get to collect your duckie! Keep up the great work, show up ready to learn, and let's see who earns the next surprise!
Sights of Success: A Peek Into Our Classrooms
Fourth Grade Went to Texas!
This week, fourth grade took a trip to the National Ranching Heritage Center and the International Cultural Center (ICC) at Texas Tech University!
Students learned about the different groups of people who immigrated to Texas and the reasons they came. They also got to explore how homes and houses have changed over time!
A HUGE thank you to our friends at the ICC and the National Ranching Heritage Center for welcoming us! We had such a great time learning, exploring, and bringing Texas history to life!
A Wonderful ESL Family Night!
Thank you so much to all the families who attended our ESL Night! It was an incredible evening of connecting, sharing resources, and celebrating our multilingual learners and their families. We loved having the chance to partner with you, answer questions, and highlight all the great things happening in our language programs. Thank you for your incredible support and enthusiasm—our school community is stronger because of you!
Phonics Power in Mrs. Poyner’s 1st Grade Class!
Our first graders in Mrs. Poyner’s class have been hard at work building their reading and writing skills! This week, students dove into their phonics patterns of the week, practicing how to stretch out sounds, recognize spelling patterns, and build new words. It is incredible to see their confidence grow as they turn those phonetic building blocks into solid spelling skills. Keep up the great work, super spellers!
Hands-On Science with Miss. Wolverton!
Science is moving fast in Miss. Wolverton’s room! This week, students rolled up their sleeves to test the forces of push, pull, and gravity. By testing how objects move and fall, our students gained a deeper, hands-on understanding of how physics works every day. Way to go, scientists!
Our athletes and their partners brought their absolute best to the court, showcasing incredible talent, high energy, and outstanding sportsmanship every step of the way. Beyond the competition, the highlight of the event was seeing everyone cheer each other on, create great memories, and have a total blast.
Way to represent, Southies! We could not be more proud!!
Outstanding Character Traits Happening Here!
Bounty Bucks!!!
Ahoy, mateys! Exceptional behavior pays off at Lubbock-Cooper South! Our hardworking Pirates have been earning Bounty Bucks for demonstrating outstanding character, showing kindness, and making great choices every day. To celebrate their leadership, the Pirate Store rolled right up on its cart, giving these scholars the chance to trade in their hard-earned loot for special rewards and prizes. We are so proud of our South crew for setting a wonderful example and proving that doing the right thing brings great treasure!
