Triple A Award Winners for NHS
Triple 'A' Award
Congratulations to Anna Forbord and Aki Gupta who have been selected as Northfield High School's 2024 MSHSL Triple 'A' Award winners! Both Anna and Aki show high dedication to not only their academics but also in the arts and athletics. The Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award, commonly known as the Triple 'A' Award, honors high school seniors throughout the state who have a 3.0 or higher-grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Both Anna and Aki will now move into a pool of regional finalists and if they are selected there will be able to potentially win a statewide Triple 'A' award.

Congratulations to the following students for their finish in the fall session of the Sifma Foundation Stock Market Game played during their Business Finance class with Mrs. Wilson. After 10 weeks of managing $100,000 of virtual money in their own stock market portfolio and competing against over 1500 other students throughout the state, three students finished in the top 10!
Senior Garrett Muench finished in 1st place with a portfolio value of $164,109. Junior Christian Whiteman finished in 2nd place with a portfolio value of $157,209 and Senior Jacob Faust finished in 7th place with a portfolio value of $151,552. A Northfield High School student has won the Stock Market Game two sessions in a row! No other high school has done that. Garrett, Christian and Jacob attended an awards ceremony in downtown Minneapolis where they had a chance to visit the RBC Wealth Management trading floor and participate in a question/answer session with investment brokers. Garrett and Christian received a certificate and a gift card prize for finishing in the top five.

NHS Orchestra Performs Retired Directors Musical Composition at Concert
Paul Ousley, former NHS Orchestra Director, shared a musical composition colleague and current director, Thomas O'Keefe to play at the recent Winter Concert. Mr. Ousley also made a guest director appearance to lead rehearsal and provide feedback to orchestra students leading up to the concert. I was a wonderful collaboration.
Principal Update: Winter Break
Dear NHS Students, Families and Staff:
I hope you have a restful break and enjoy family time. While the holiday season can be stressful and busy with all sorts of activities competing for your attention, time with family and the opportunity to reflect on the important things in life bring a certain amount of peace, joy and thankfulness.
Coming out of the break, we have 9 school days until the end of 2nd quarter followed by finals week. that leads us to the end of the fall semester. As we continue to strive for a culture of leadership and excellence, I am asking students to see school attendance as one of the key to success. With only two weeks until the end of the semester, it will be important to finish strong and be present at school. I have included a link to the semester exam schedule below so you can begin to discuss plans for how to make semester finals week a successful experience. Preparation for final exams (click here for details) includes the work done everyday in class and completion of learning tasks. Studying for exams can be stressful, especially without a thoughtful plan. The first step in reducing stress is to create a plan; creating a plan to study and prepare a few minutes each day leading up to the final exam or project sets students up for success. Thank you for your continued support and confidence in the NHS team's capacity to serve in the honorable role as educators in your child's life.
Sincerely,
Shane Baier
NHS Principal
