Message from Ms. Batista
Dear Rock View Families,
We had the honor of welcoming Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor, School Board Member Laura Stewart, and Councilmember Jarod Solomon (Legislative District 18) to our school this week. Their visit was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the amazing work happening at Rock View. They were able to see firsthand how our students are giving their BEST each day, and they expressed their continued support for the important work of our staff and community.
In this week’s bulletin, you will also find the Annual Notice for Directory Information and Student Privacy attached. Parents/guardians may direct the principal not to release any or a specific part of this directory information if they return the completed form by September 12, 2025. If you decide to change your selection at a later date, please contact the school directly. Please note that withholding directory information impacts all lists or references to students shared outside of MCPS, whether prepared by the school, parent-teacher organizations, or central services.
On a lighter note, football season is officially here! My only son, Francisco, is in his second year at Florida State University and is not only a huge football fan but is also working toward degrees that will lead him into the field of sports media. He even wrote the article for FSU covering the first college game of the season! As his mom, I couldn’t be prouder—and of course, I’m a football fan too. Go Bucs! 🏈
Wishing you all a great week ahead!
Warmly,
Ms. Batista, Principal

Our Roadrunners ROCKED Drill Week!
Wow! Our Roadrunners showed amazing focus, confidence, and teamwork during Drill Week! A huge thank you to our families for helping your students feel prepared and calm—your support makes a world of difference. While all scheduled drills for this month are complete, our teachers will continue practicing safety routines with students throughout the year to keep everyone sharp and safe while maintaining our BEST expectations.
Beginning-of-Year Assessments Are Coming!
Next week, our K–5 students will kick off their beginning-of-year assessments! Classes will begin the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) and/or DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) assessments. These tools give teachers a clear picture of each student’s strengths, growth areas, and learning needs in reading and math, so we can provide the best, targeted support possible.
Quick Tips to Help Your Roadrunner Shine:
-
Get plenty of sleep the night before—rested brains learn best!
-
Enjoy a healthy breakfast to fuel a great start.
-
Encourage your child to take their time and do their best—effort matters most!
-
Celebrate trying, learning, and progress, not just the score.
-
Arrive on time and start the day relaxed and ready to shine.
We can’t wait to see all the amazing growth our Roadrunners will show this year!
~AP Helse

Refrigerator Curriculum_Marking Period 1
Refrigerator Curriculum’s First Quarter Documents Now Available
MCPS has introduced the Refrigerator Curriculum—a one-page overview of what students will learn each marking period. Designed to post on the fridge, these guides help families stay informed about key themes and texts, stay engaged in their student’s education, and, if needed, request alternative assignments if a text conflicts with religious views. See the documents for the first quarter of the 2025-2026 school year.
ParentVUE Accounts
