Biddeford Center of Technology
April 15, 2026
Dear Parents, Students, and Families,
It is hard to believe we are entering the last quarter of the school year. When we return from April vacation, we are hit with the reality of how quickly this year is going. Before we know it, our seniors will be wearing their caps and gowns and celebrating their graduations. Mother Nature did not fail this year with snow days extending our school days into mid June, and the last day of school is June 18th. Underclassmen will continue to attend BRCOT until June 18th.
Our end-of-the-year ceremony, in which we honor students who are completing their BRCOT programs, will be held on May 28th at 6:00 pm at the Biddeford Middle School Performing Arts Center. Student achievements will be recognized, and scholarships will be awarded. BRCOT has multiple scholarships available to graduating students who have attended BRCOT. Students are reminded to complete scholarship applications online and/or submit hard copies to the main office. If students do not complete an application, they will not be eligible to receive any scholarships.
Forty-two of BRCOT’s students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society on March 26th. Students inducted to NTHS are recognized for their academic achievement as well as demonstrating strong habits of work. (Please see photo below.)
BRCOT continues to accept applications for many of our programs. Students will receive their acceptance letters the week of April 6th and need to commit online by April 15th. We continue to have space available in some of our programs, and we encourage students to get their applications completed as soon as possible.
Please continue to read this newsletter to learn more about student successes at the Skills USA competition. Many of our students brought home medals, and we have two going to the National SkillsUSA Competition. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us or your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns at 207-282-1501.
Sincerely,
Paulette Bonneau, Director
Michael Bailey, Asst. Director

Electrical Students Shine at ABC Wiring Competition
Our Electrical program students recently showcased their skills at the ABC Wiring Competition held in Augusta. This hands-on event challenged students to demonstrate their technical knowledge, precision, and problem-solving abilities in a competitive setting.
In addition to the competition, students had the valuable opportunity to attend the Associated Builders & Contractors trade show. The event provided a chance to connect with industry professionals, learn about current trends in the electrical field, and explore potential career opportunities. Many students engaged directly with employers, gaining insight into the expectations and pathways within the trade.
We are proud to recognize Jaden Sterns for earning an impressive second-place finish. We also commend Evan Hutchings for his dedication and perseverance in competing and successfully completing his project.
Experiences like these are instrumental in preparing our students for future careers, and we look forward to seeing their continued growth and success in the electrical industry.
NTHS Inductees
The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) induction ceremony was held on March 27, 2026, recognizing a new group of outstanding students for their achievements in career and technical education. Families, friends, and staff gathered to celebrate the dedication, leadership, and academic excellence demonstrated by each inductee.
Membership in the National Technical Honor Society is a significant accomplishment, highlighting students who have gone above and beyond in their programs while preparing for successful futures in their chosen fields. Inductees have demonstrated strong work ethic, skill development, and a commitment to excellence both in and out of the classroom.
The ceremony provided an opportunity to honor these students and acknowledge the important role that family support plays in their success. Each student was recognized individually, and the pride in the room was evident as they officially became members of NTHS. To commemorate the occasion, photos were taken of each student with Director Ms. Bonneau, capturing a lasting memory of this important milestone.
Congratulations to all of our inductees on this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to seeing all they will accomplish in the future.
Exploring Opportunities Outside of BRCOT!
Career Possibilities
Being able to apply classroom skills in the real world is what makes our programs so unique and engaging! Devyn Mayo, a second-year Welding student, partnered with our Career Pathways Office to secure an internship at James McBrady, Inc. in Scarborough, ME. Since opening in 1951, McBrady has specialized in metal fabrication, contributing to projects across New England—including work at Colby College and Hadlock Field.
We love seeing our students thrive both in and out of the classroom as they build skills for their future careers!
From Classroom to Competition: Students Compete at Titan Challenge
On April 2, students traveled to the University of New England to compete in the Junior Achievement Titan Challenge, joining teams from across Southern Maine in a fast-paced business simulation. Acting as executives of a telecommunications company, students made real-time decisions on pricing, marketing, production, and corporate responsibility over six competitive rounds.
Throughout the day, students quickly grew more confident, learning to balance budgets, analyze data, and think strategically under pressure. With guidance from experienced business mentors, they gained valuable insight into real-world decision-making and teamwork.
Students left motivated from the day, eager to refine their strategies, and excited to compete again next year. More importantly, they gained practical skills and a deeper understanding of how business concepts apply beyond the classroom. The Titan Challenge was more than a competition—it was a meaningful learning experience that will continue to shape students’ thinking and future success.
Valuable Experience
When students love what they do, it never feels like work. Tyler Beaulieu and Alessia Capece may look familiar from previous posts highlighting their Auto Body internships—but their dedication goes far beyond scheduled hours. Throughout the year, both have come in on their own time to sharpen their skills, explore new techniques, and make progress on their capstone projects.
Their commitment, passion, and drive to improve every day truly set them apart. We’re proud to have them on campus and can’t wait to see where their hard work takes them next!
May Street Memorial Field Concession and Restroom Building
Plumbing students were recently up on the roof installing the flashing for the plumbing vent on the new May Memorial Field concession and restroom building. Projects like this give students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to real-world construction.
Our second-year Electrical program students are gaining valuable hands-on experience while making a meaningful impact in the community. This spring, they have been hard at work on the Mayfield Softball storage and concession building as well, taking on the responsibility of wiring and installing new electrical systems.
From running main power lines to installing circuits and lighting, students are applying the skills they’ve learned in the classroom to a real-world setting. This project not only strengthens their technical abilities but also builds confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that are essential in the trades.
Despite less-than-ideal conditions—working through cold temperatures, rain, and unpredictable weather—these students have shown dedication and resilience. Their commitment reflects the true nature of trade work: showing up, adapting to the elements, and getting the job done safely and effectively.
