Annual Grandparents’ Night thank-you
Thank you to all who participated in Maple's annual Grandparents' Night, which featured Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speaker Ada Cheng! Ada's talk explored the importance of intergenerational storytelling and building community, then was followed by a Q&A panel with current students and school tours. We love this tradition that bridges generations for our middle school families and supports our strategic priority of family and community engagement!
Today's Illuminate speaker
Maple welcomed speaker and philanthropist Jakhil Jackson this afternoon as part of our fall Illuminate event for students that promotes belonging and inclusion. At just 8 years old, Jakhil founded the I Am Project to support individuals experiencing homelessness. More than 10 years later, the organization has grown to include sites across several countries. Now a first-year college student, Jakhil spoke with our Mustangs about social entrepreneurship and how they can use their ideas to make a positive difference.

Fire drill follow-up
Keeping our Maple community safe is always a top priority, and regular safety drills are an important part of that commitment. Last Tuesday, we successfully completed our second fire drill of the school year. Our students and staff did a wonderful job following directions, remaining calm, and moving safely and efficiently throughout the drill.
We are proud of the responsibility and cooperation our students demonstrated and appreciate everyone's efforts in making the drill a success. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to maintain a safe environment for all Maple students and staff!

Career Day volunteers needed

Parent volunteers are needed for the Maple’s annual 8th grade Career Day. The aim of this session is to improve our 8th graders’ interview skills. We are looking for people who are eager to offer thoughtful feedback and encouragement. If you are able to participate between 8:00 and 11:30 a.m. on January 15, 2027, please complete this form.
8th grade Soccer season a success
A big THANK YOU to all the 8th grade Soccer players who represented Maple in this year’s season. There were some wins, there were some losses but what matters the most is that everyone worked very hard to contribute to every goal, and each player demonstrated a very high level of sportsmanship. No exceptions. No red cards, and perhaps one yellow card, that we already forgot about anyway. That speaks volume. GBN & GBS will be lucky to have our Mustangs join their soccer teams next year.
TRRFCC job everyone! Dev, Jaycee, Jaymes, Lucas, Dylan, Eitan, Jun, Colton, Oscar, Ariana, Preston, Marian, Tovi, Tyler, Sheldon and Caroline - you are all talented and motivated athletes. Don’t let your talents go to waste! See you at future FIFA World Cups.
Also a friendly reminder to please return your soccer jerseys. Please return them to either Coach B directly or to the front office.
Norbert Barszczewski
(Coach B.)

April 2027 elections for School Board
File petitions Nov. 16-23
Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 will have four school board seats to be filled at the Consolidated Election on April 6, 2027. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2031.
Candidates for the office of the school board can begin circulating nominating petitions for signatures. The period for filing nominating petitions runs from November 16-23, 2026.
A candidate for the school board is required to file the nominating petitions, Statement of Candidacy, and receipt for filing their Statement of Economic Interests with the applicable county election clerk and not with the school board secretary or the administrative offices of the school district. The county clerk may have petition forms available, or blank petitions may be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website.
Candidates may also want to consult the “2027 Candidate’s Guide,” which can be downloaded from the Illinois State Board of Elections website, or contact the county clerk or board of election commissioners regarding the requirements of filing. Candidates and voters can get information about District 30 from our website and learn about being a school board member from the Illinois Association of School Boards at: iasb.com/elections.
Candidates who are interested in seeking endorsement from the District 30 School Board Caucus should contact Katie Schick (kateschick0609@gmail.com) by Friday, October 16. The School Board Caucus is a committee of District 30 residents that includes families both with and without children enrolled in Willowbrook, Wescott and Maple schools. The Caucus's role is to source, screen and endorse potential school board candidates. To be considered by the Caucus, candidates will need to complete a detailed application as well as an interview. If you are interested in learning more about joining the Caucus, please contact Katie.
