Guess what? The first quarter of the school year has already come and gone! It's hard to believe how quickly the weeks have flown by, and our students had a fantastic time celebrating this milestone on Friday at their Super House Hype Day – Quarterly Celebration! There was plenty of excitement, House spirit, and fun as everyone came together to celebrate a great start to the school year. Here's to an amazing second quarter! 💙💛🐆

• Students are invited to bring in nonperishable food to their homeroom class.
• The class in each grade with the most items collected will be declared the winners of the Golden Turkey Award at the PTA Turkey Trot!
• And Mrs. Krablin announced that the top class in the whole school with the most items collected will earn EXTRA RECESS.

• Back again this year! Bring your extra Halloween candy to school in Ziploc bags for donation.
• Candy will be sent to military personnel flying overseas through the USO.
• Last year SJLES collected 99 lbs of candy and the USO was so appreciative!

• Wear red, white and blue to honor and thank our nation's veterans.

Our next PTA meeting of the year will be held HYBRID in the school’s Media Center and Virtual on Wednesday 11/11 @ 6 PM! Join us to get a look inside what’s going on at SJLES, learn about upcoming events, and connect with other parents. Hope to see you there!

The Turkey Trot Fun Run/Walk will be held Sunday, November 15, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Mt. Hebron High School Track. Please click here to let us know how many people plan to attend and also to sign the participation waiver electronically in advance. You don't need to RSVP, but it helps us make sure there will be enough food for everyone. And if you'd rather sign the participation waiver upon arrival at the event instead of online, there will be paper copies available to fill out.

New this year- Food Trucks! Amazonian Berry Acai and It's All Good Food Truck will be at Turkey Trot this year from 10am-12pm to feed our hungry runners and their families! Both trucks will be donating part of their proceeds to the PTA so that we can continue to support SJLES students and staff!

Mark your calendars! STEM Night is returning to SJLES on January 14, 2027! We're already starting to plan an evening full of fun, hands-on activities exploring science, technology, engineering, and math, and we need your help! We're looking for parents, teachers, and local organizations willing to volunteer to host an activity or table.

Don't have an idea? We're happy to provide one! Or, if you have a STEM background or a special skill you'd love to share with our students, we'd love to hear from you. Interested in volunteering? Email Maggie Suter at maggie.suter@gmail.com. We're hoping to have an initial list of volunteers by mid-November so we can finalize planning. Let's make this a night of discovery and fun for our Jaguars! 🐆

The PTA plays a vital role in supporting school-wide essentials. We invite you to visit our online membership site to make your tax-deductible donation. All membership dues and donations are directly allocated to funding assemblies, family fun events, teacher appreciation activities, and fulfilling various supply requests made by teachers, among other initiatives. Without the PTA, these important events would not be possible. Reminder: Members must renew each year!

Looking to volunteer with the PTA now or in the future? Great, we have plenty of options!

Join our Volunteer email list: Our Volunteer Coordinator maintains an email list every year. Being on the volunteer email list does not commit you to anything, it will just keep you informed of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Blaire sends around emails monthly, and as needed, with volunteer opportunities. You can then choose when/how you want to volunteer when/if it works for you!
