A Letter of Gratitude
It has been an honor to serve this community as Director of Choirs at North Montgomery High School. You are raising incredible young people! It has been a joy creating beauty with them and watching them progress as musicians and as people. The support you provide our Fine Arts Department is invaluable and is something I am certain will remain strong as I pass the baton to our incoming director.
As I begin a new chapter as full-time Director of Music & Liturgy for the Pastorate of Saint Mary Cathedral and Saint Ann Church and Shrine in Lafayette, know that NMHS will continue to hold a special place in my heart and that I am sincerely grateful for our collaboration. Do not hesitate to reach out for voice lessons or letters of recommendation for your students. I look forward to supporting this program as new leadership transitions over the summer. I also look forward to coming back to see the outstanding shows produced here!
This has been a difficult school year, particularly for choirs. As it comes to a close, I am beyond proud of the accomplishments of these students. They kept giving what that could each day and that persistence has paid off. It has been heartwarming to see them lift each other up as we faced the adversity of the ever-changing circumstances we navigated week by week, month by month.
Despite the constant hurdles, our choir family kept going. My hope is that we have learned the most important facets of the choral art this year. It has almost nothing to do with music and everything to do with people. A choir is a community. It is often times a very diverse community of individuals with a wide variety of beliefs, socio-economic backgrounds, and experiences. Yet, no matter what makes us unique, we are united in a common goal—breathing life into song.
May we never forget this importance and know that we have made friends and song no wealth can buy. Stay in touch and keep singing!
