Ready, Set, Go... Glenwood School Season Kicks Off!
GREETINGS FROM GLENWOOD!!! We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer break! We apologize for the delay in sending this information. We had hoped to provide information sooner - but as you know, we are going through many transitions right now! For those new to Glenwood, you can expect our weekly e-news every Thursday evening during the school year. We consider this "all you need to know about Glenwood for the week," so please try to make it part of your weekly routine!
The good news is we are on schedule, everyone is in place, and we are looking forward to welcoming you to the 2025-2026 School Year!!! AND when we return, we will have air conditioning in the entire building!!!! Our Custodial and Maintenance staff - plus numerous contractors - have been working hard in this hot weather to ensure we are ready!
Our first big news is that our new Interim Principal, Mrs. Christa Consadene joined the staff officially on August 1st!!! Mrs. Consadene has been with the Rose Tree Media School District for over 24 years, serving many positions including the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, Director of Technology, an instructional coach, and MTSS Teacher at Media Elementary. She will continue to oversee Curriculum & Instruction district-wide, but has committed to stepping in as our Principal for the first half of the year. Mrs. Consadene is also a Glenwood parent, and we are thrilled to have her leading our TEAM!
Mr. Ralph Harrison is also joining us. Mr. Harrison is currently the Administrator for Safe and Inclusive Schools and has moved his District office to Glenwood. He will support many of our daily practices at Glenwood, especially regarding keeping our students and staff safe and secure. We have many other exciting staffing updates that will be finalized at the August 7th School Board Meeting. Look for more information about new staff in our next publication.
You may have already guessed that this year's theme is "TEAM"! We know by working together, we can achieve so much more and this will be the foundation for our success this year. We will highlight all the positive ways our students excel throughout the year by cheering on each other. We all have one GOAL - OUR STUDENTS. We are Rose Tree Media. WE ARE TEAM GLENWOOD!
We have included a LOT of information here, please take a minute to catch up. We have some announcements and many fun activities so be sure to mark your calendars...
- Thursday August 28th will be Kindergarten, New Family Orientation and our Open House. You can expect an email from your child's teacher toward the end of August
- School Supply Lists are below... if you ordered a "1st Day School Kit" through the PTG, they will be delivered to your student's classroom (available at the Open House)

We are inviting all incoming Kindergarten students to our annual "KINDERGARTEN DASH" on Friday September 5th! Kindergarten students are invited to run the length of the turf field together before our 7 pm first home football game! We will provide all Kindergarten students with a "Future LION" t-shirt for the event.
Our Penncrest Lions face Haverford High School - kick off 7 pm... enjoy our Roaring Lions Marching Band halftime show... support our senior class by purchasing a snack (or dinner) at the concession stand... stock up on Penncrest football swag at the booster tent... what better way to KICK OFF the upcoming school year!!!
Kindergarten students should plan to arrive at 6:15 pm, meet on the track at 6:30 pm (near the scoreboard end of the field). Dash will be held at 6:40 pm - students will be asked to quickly leave the field after the run, to allow the football team time to warm up. This is NOT a drop-off event. We ask only one parent/guardian on the field with your Kindergarten student (no siblings).
Admission to the football game is $5/adult (ages 12 and older)... cash only, please try to have exact change. For any questions, please contact penncrestathleticboosters@gmail.com.
Technology Update
Students will be assigned a Chromebook. Students with more than one damage incident per year, will be charged the actual cost of the repair. If the Chromebook is damaged beyond repair, the student will be responsible for the replacement cost of the device.

Kindergarten First Riders Program
What is the First Time Riders Program?
"First Time Riders" is an educational and awareness program designed to promote school bus safety for young children and their parents. All Rose Tree Media School District kindergarten students are invited to attend. The program helps familiarize children with school buses, easing fears and teaching essential safety procedures in a fun, interactive format.
Who is it for?
This program is for incoming kindergarten students who will be riding the school bus, along with one parent or guardian. Please do not bring younger siblings, as children under the age of five are legally required to be in a car seat and will not be permitted on the bus.
When and Where?
Tuesday, August 19th at 10:00 AM
Penncrest High School Auditorium
How Does it Work?
The First Time Riders program, led by our RTMSD transportation staff, lasts approximately one hour and includes:
A short safety video
A Q&A session
A guided ride on a school bus
A review of safety procedures
The program begins with the presentation of Winnie the Pooh's Great School Bus Adventure. After the video, students and families will review bus safety and enjoy a supervised ride to their school.
Please RSVP by August 12th so we can plan accordingly: RSVP Link
We look forward to seeing our newest learners and helping them start their journey safely!

All guests and volunteers (including Homeroom parents) must have their clearances on file with the district. Click here: OBTAINING CLEARANCES FOR VOLUNTEERS & CHAPERONES
Once you have obtained all THREE portions of the clearances, we must verify them at school. We must see the ORIGINAL FBI clearance (printed with a light blue background and it will be USPS <snail> MAILED to you - - we cannot accept the email!). You can bring all three portions with you during our Open House, send them in with your student (we will make a copy and send them back home), or stop by the office. Please only send in when all THREE have been completed, our HR Department will not accept them separately. You will receive email verification once we have received all three copies and you have been confirmed as a volunteer.
Have some downtime this summer? Now is a perfect time to work on getting your clearances! Clearances are valid for FIVE (5) years, if you are unsure your expiration, email Coleen Fickes: cfickes@rtmsd.org.
