Principal's Message

Welcome back, students, parents, and community members!

As we step into September, I want to emphasize the importance of "Attendance Awareness Month." We are launching an exciting incentive program to encourage our students to achieve 100% attendance this month. Parents, your support is crucial in making this a success, and we need your help to ensure our students are present and ready to learn every day.

Additionally, we're thrilled to share that our homecoming dates and events are just around the corner. Please keep an eye out for the flyer below for all the details. Your participation and support in these events make a significant impact on our school spirit and community.

August has come and gone, and with it, our baseline testing. The next round of formative assessments is scheduled for October. In the meantime, I expect our students to be fully engaged in learning, and I'm confident that my dedicated staff will continue to do all they can to support every student's academic journey.

If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or one of my assistant principals. Let's work together to ensure the best outcomes for our students.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and let's make this a fantastic month for learning and growth!

Sincerely,

Principal David Manning

Strive for "5" Attendance Awareness Challenge

Perfect Attendance Challenge: "Strive for 5"

The "Strive for 5" challenge encourages our students to maintain perfect attendance for all five weeks of September. Each week, we will present a new opportunity to earn rewards, with a grand prize at the end of the month for those who achieve perfect attendance throughout the challenge. Below is the.

Challenge Structure

1. Week 1: "Set the Pace" (September 3-6)

- Goal: Be present every day this week. September 3-6

- Reward: Students with perfect attendance receive a "Strive for 5" wristband or school-branded item.

2. Week 2: "Keep It Going" (September 9-13)

- Goal: Continue the streak of perfect attendance.

- Reward: Students with perfect attendance for the first two weeks get into a drawing for small prizes (e.g., gift cards, school gear). Drawing during lunch

3. Week 3: "Halfway There" (September 16-20)

- Goal: Maintain attendance for a third week.

- Reward: Students who have perfect attendance so far receive a ticket to a special lunchtime event (e.g., pizza party, ice cream social).

4. Week 4: "Push Through" (September 23-27) "You did it"

- Goal: Keep up the attendance streak.

- Reward: We will enter students with perfect attendance into a drawing for a larger prize (e.g., movie tickets, etc.).

5. Week 5: "Finish Strong" (September 30th) Starts Fall Break

- Goal: Complete the month with perfect attendance.

- Reward: We will recognize students with perfect attendance for the entire month in a school assembly, enter into a grand prize drawing, and get a free KONA ICE snow cone (e.g., a significant gift card).

Grand Prize:

At the end of September, all students who maintained perfect attendance throughout the month are eligible for the grand prize. We will allow special school privileges (e.g., front-row parking in Mr. Manning, Mrs. Cortes, and Mrs. Ryans' spot, free entry to homecoming events), or we will have some special, but we can't tell now.

Bonus Challenge:

For the month of October, we encourage students to create teams (e.g., by grade level or homeroom), and we will offer a reward to the group with the highest overall attendance percentage by the end of the month. Let's go, NHHS teachers. "Post that Attendance." Don't be a sore loser!

Let's Get Engaged To WIN!!

Sincerely,

The NHHS' Attendance Team!
