Student Recognition: Jack Osvald, Art Achievement

The Board of Education recognized Francis A. Desmares School 3rd-grader Jack Osvald for his artistic achievement. Each year, the district selects a piece of student artwork to feature on a postcard distributed to all FRSD employees during Teacher Appreciation Week, held this year from May 4–8. This year, it was Francis A. Desmares School’s turn to choose the featured artwork, and art teacher Ms. Marie Corfield selected Jack’s piece. Created in marker and inspired by artist Faith Ringgold’s Story Quilts, the colorful collage-style work features snow-capped mountains, a smiling sun, a polka-dot hot air balloon, rolling green hills, a roller coaster, and a Ferris wheel framed by a fabric-inspired border. The Board commends Jack for his creativity and for contributing to the district’s long-standing Teacher Appreciation Week tradition with his vibrant and imaginative artwork.

Staff Recognition ~ 2025-2026 Retirees

On behalf of the Flemington-Raritan Regional School District and the entire community, the Board of Education commends and thanks our retiring staff members for their many years of service to our district. Through the years, these dedicated professionals have served countless students and families, supported fellow faculty members, collaborated with their colleagues, and contributed to our district’s great success. Their experience, knowledge, skills, and talents have helped to improve and enhance the education we provide our students. Over the years, they have taught, guided, or cared for children with great pride, integrity, and sincerity. Their hard work and devotion have helped our students grow, learn, and achieve. It is because of their outstanding efforts that our district continues to provide all students with an excellent education and the foundation they need to succeed in the future. We thank these individuals for all that they have given to our district, including their commitment to children, passion for education, and a lifelong love of learning. As each of them looks toward their new beginning, we wish them much joy, good health, and all the very best in the years to come. Please join the Board in congratulating and applauding this year's retirees:

Board Action: Special Resolution Approved

The Board approved a resolution addressing the sharp rise in health insurance costs for school employees across New Jersey. These costs have been increasing much faster than inflation and are placing significant pressure on school budgets and local taxpayers. The Board noted that if these trends continue, schools may be forced to make difficult budget decisions that could affect programs, staffing, and student services. The resolution calls on state leaders to provide immediate relief from these rising costs and to work toward long-term changes that would make school employee health benefits more affordable and sustainable in the future.
