Dual Language Program Update
Dear Nob Hill Families,
Earlier, we shared information about the dual language program coming to Nob Hill Elementary. After careful consideration, the district has decided not to implement the program at Nob Hill next year.
Why the Change?
The district is taking a thoughtful, long-term approach to ensure that dual language programming is high-quality, sustainable, and well-supported for students and families. Consolidating the program at specific school sites will allow us to provide the necessary resources, staffing, and support so that students can thrive in a bilingual learning environment.
Options for Families
Families at Nob Hill who are interested in dual language education for their children will have the opportunity to enroll at McClure Elementary, one of the district’s central dual language sites. These schools are fully equipped to provide the program and ensure a positive, consistent experience for students.
Our Commitment
We understand that this change may come as a surprise, and we are committed to supporting families through this transition. Our priority remains ensuring high-quality educational opportunities for all students.
Thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any questions about enrollment or the dual language program, please contact the school office or the district office for guidance.
Spring Conferences
Spring conferences are this week, and we are excited for the opportunity to connect with you about your child’s progress. As always, our goal is 100% family participation, because we believe that strong partnerships between school and home are key to student success.
📅 Conference Dates:
March 30 – April 3
During this time, you will have the chance to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss academic progress, strengths, and areas where we can continue to support their growth.
⏰ Early Dismissal Reminder:
All students will be dismissed at 12:00 PM (noon) each day of conferences.
Please watch for messages from your child’s teacher with information on how to sign up for a conference time. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible so we can ensure a time that works best for your schedule.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to meeting with each of you and celebrating the great work our students are doing.
📊 Middle of the Year Data Update – Reading & Math
We want to keep our families informed about how we monitor and support student learning throughout the year.
Students at Nob Hill participate in DIBELS (reading) and STAR Math assessments three times a year—fall, winter (middle of the year), and spring. These assessments help us track progress and better understand each student’s strengths and areas for growth.
✅ What we’re doing with this data:
- Reviewing results as a team to identify student needs
- Providing targeted interventions and small group instruction
- Offering enrichment opportunities for students who are ready for more challenge
- Monitoring progress to ensure students are on track for grade-level success
📈 What’s next:
Students will take these assessments again toward the end of the school year. This helps us measure growth over time and plan for continued support and success.
🏡 How families can help at home:
- Encourage daily reading
- Practice math facts and problem-solving
- Support your child with Imagine Math Facts to help build fluency and boost scores
- Encourage your child to take AR (Accelerated Reader) quizzes at home after finishing books
- Stay connected with your child’s teacher about progress and goals
We are proud of the growth our students are showing and appreciate your continued partnership in supporting their learning!
Important: Student Laptop Expectations and Depot Policy
⚠️ Important Information
Our school has a limited number of depot (loaner) laptops—only 10 total—so they are not always available for student use. In addition, not all grade levels take devices home. Because of this, it is essential that students bring their assigned laptop to school each day, when applicable, so they are prepared for learning.
To support student success, please review our updated policy regarding depot laptops below.
📌 If a Student Forgets Their Laptop
1st time:
The student may check out a depot laptop for the day.
2nd time:
The school will contact the family. Parents/guardians will be asked to locate the laptop and bring it to school. A depot laptop will not be issued.
3rd time:
A work order will be submitted to the Technology Department, and the laptop will be considered lost.
A replacement fee will be added to the student’s account.
Families will be notified regarding next steps.
🔧 If a Laptop is Broken
If a student’s laptop is not working and a repair request (work order) has been submitted:
- The student may check out a depot laptop
- The depot laptop may only be used until repairs are completed
🚫 Depot Laptop Expectations
Depot laptops are not allowed to go home. They must be:
- Checked out during the school day
- Returned before the student leaves campus
🏫 Laptop Care & Storage
Laptops must be kept in a safe, secure location at all times. They should not be left unattended or placed outside.
🏫 Optional Classroom Storage
Parents/guardians may choose to have their student’s laptop remain at school in the classroom.
Thank you for your support in helping ensure students are prepared for learning each day. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Thanks to Our PTA & Upcoming Events!
We want to give a huge thank you to our incredible Nob Hill PTA for organizing such an amazing assembly and family parent night! Bringing in The Reptile Man was a huge hit with our students and families.
From the exciting up-close reptile encounters to the engaging and educational presentation, it was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Events like this truly bring our school community together and create lasting memories for our students.
We are so grateful for the time, effort, and dedication our PTA puts into making opportunities like this possible. Thank you for supporting our students and families in such a fun and meaningful way! 🐍💚
Reminder About Pick-Up and Parking Safety
Please help us keep all students safe during pick-up and drop-off. No cars should park in any areas marked in red on the map. These areas are restricted to ensure students do not cross the street without using a designated crosswalk. We want all staff, students, and families to use crosswalks to stay safe.
Additionally, the employee parking lot on 32nd Ave is not a pick-up location. This lot is reserved for staff and two of our buses, so we need to keep it clear.
Thank you for being respectful to our staff and other families during this busy time of day, for helping us keep dismissal efficient and safe for all Nob Hill students and families, and for encouraging everyone to use crosswalks!
If you have any questions, please reach out to the office.
