We are looking forward to welcoming you to Orrington for the 2024-25 school year on August 22nd and bringing the J-Factor or JOY Factor to the Orrington Eagle community.

This year, our mission continues to focus on fostering an inclusive, supportive community.

A strong school community values everyone and or goal is to ensure all our students feel seen, valued, and have a voice. Empathy and respect are key to building strong relationships across the school. Providing a learning environment where students are encouraged to be innovative while feeling safe to stretch themselves creatively and intellectually is how the learning magic happens. It’s going to be a great year!

As many of you may have observed already, the demolition and construction of Northwestern University’s new football stadium is well underway. Trucks hauling debris from the construction site have been routed to travel east on Central Street from the stadium and south on Sherman Avenue. The volume of truck traffic in the Central and Sherman area is quite high. I would like to assure you that I have reached out the District 65 Safety and Security Team to discuss a safety plan for our students that walk to school near this high traffic area. Crossing guards will continue to be posted at key corners with particular attention paid to Central Street and Sherman Avenue. We will be providing safety tips to families and students prior to the beginning of the school year and will reinforce these safety measures at school. The parent-school partnership is invaluable for keeping our students safe as they travel to and from school. Please look for additional updates closer to the start of school.

The Free/Reduced Meal Application is now available! Please follow THIS LINK to complete the application at your earliest convenience.

A NEW meal application must be submitted every school year. In order to ensure benefits are received by the first day of school, Thursday, August 22, families are required to submit a completed online meal application by Thursday, August 15, 2024.

There are students who will qualify for free meals without an application. If you receive an email from us confirming your student’s meal status for this school year, you DO NOT need to submit a meal application for the upcoming school year. Your student(s) will automatically receive free meals. Please ensure that each of your students are listed in the emailed letter that you receive. If you notice a discrepancy, we ask that you call the D65 Nutrition Services office (847-859-8130) as soon as possible.
