Attendance is important

- For students to be successful in school, we need them to be here! Accordingly, we are taking a proactive approach to attendance.

Under state law, parents/guardians can excuse a student from school for up to 10 days per school year with advance notice.

· School functions (field trips, sporting events, etc.) do not count toward the 10 days.

· Absences due to illness or medical appointments do not count toward the 10 days, as long as you provide documentation from the health-care provider.

Here's what you can expect:

· After 5 days excused: Informational letter noting that the student has used 5 of the 10 excused absences.

· After 10 days excused: Notice that the 10 excused absences have been used up and any future absences will be considered unexcused, unless medical documentation is provided.

All other absences are considered unexcused. If you find that your family is struggling with attendance for any reason, please reach out to me so we can work on solutions with you.

Please let Mrs. Menn or me know if you need help with attendance or have challenges preventing consistent school attendance.
