Cooper Families,
We had a GREAT first few days of school here at Cooper! Our building was filled with energy and excitement and a lot of smiling faces as we kicked off the 2024-25 school year! A reminder as everyone starts getting into a familiar, school-day routine: * Our doors open at 8:15 each morning, which is when breakfast begins as well. * The first bell rings at 8:50 AM and all students should be in their classroom ready to learn by 8:55 AM when our second bell rings. * Our school day ends at 3:27 PM. We are having a wonderful start to the year at Cooper and are so proud of each and every student as their transitions into new classrooms have gone so smoothly!

Teaching Expectations with PBIS
Welcome to the 24-25 school year! As we begin the school year, all students will be learning the expectations of how to be a Cooper Cub. The School District of Superior uses PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) as a way to help teach and reinforce expected behaviors at Cooper. All students are taught the importance of Work, Respect, and Belong as a way to live, learn, and thrive in our schools. Students will learn what is expected in their classrooms, the hallways, the bathrooms, the cafeteria, the playground....everywhere, really! They will also learn that by following these expectations they can earn Kudos (as well as praise and appreciation from those around them). Kudos are tickets that are used for prizes and privileges in the classroom and for all school celebrations. Excellent behavior should be acknowledged. We reward what we want to see more of. Other ways we try to acknowledge positive behavior are positive postcards, positive referrals, and a Friday prize cart.
Students who are having trouble following expectations are given re-teaching opportunities. Having support from home to stress the importance of following the Cooper expectations is appreciated and crucial for our students to have a successful school year. Please reach out if you have any questions about PBIS or if you'd like more information on how you can incorporate PBIS strategies into your own home.
