Dear Horizon Leadership Academy Families and Staff,

Welcome to a new school year! We are excited to open our doors and welcome students from PreK through 12th grade back to campus. A new school year brings fresh opportunities to learn, build friendships, explore interests, and grow together. Our staff has been working hard to prepare safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environments for every student. Please review the important information below to help your family begin the year with confidence.

Please label your student’s backpack, lunch box, water bottle, jackets, and other personal belongings.

Students should arrive in the appropriate school uniform beginning on the first day of school.

Need care after school? Horizon Leadership Academy’s after-school program is available for a fee of $250.

We will gather final interest from families during our Open House on August 8. Program information and registration forms will also be shared at the event. Please contact the Front Office with any questions.

Before the First Day, please make sure your family has:

• Purchased the required school supplies
• Ordered the correct school uniforms
• Confirmed arrival, dismissal, or bus arrangements
• Completed all required registration forms
• Updated emergency contacts and authorized pickup information
• Submitted required health and immunization records
• Reviewed the student handbook and attendance expectations
• Added important school dates to your calendar

The safety and security of our Horizon Leadership Academy students is our top priority. With that in mind, below is information regarding arrival and dismissal expectations. Please follow all traffic laws and show compassion and empathy towards each other, our students, and our staff. If you need clarification, please feel free to reach out.

Car Riders: Parents are to drop off and pick up their students in the front of the school. Please use the right lane and pull forward as far as possible to allow more cars to enter the circle. Students should enter and exit the vehicle from the right side. Parents should not park in the bus ramp. At the end of the school day, students are encouraged to exit the school quickly through the front entrance and look for their parent vehicles. As students get into their cars and traffic moves, please pull up to the furthest open spot to keep traffic flowing and ensure student safety.

First Day Reminders:

• On the first day of school, please support our transition process, and allow your kids to enter the building independently, unless you are dropping off medication at the clinic or have a pre-arranged meeting. Parents will have the opportunity to visit their child’s classes at Open House on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
• School Hours:
• For all students: 7:50am (assembly) -8:00am (tardy bell)
• PreK,Kindergarten,Elementary -3:41pm (dismissal)
• Middle/High school - 3:41pm (dismissal)

• Traffic will be heavy on the first week of school. We appreciate your patience. Please allow extra time.

• Be safe and patient during arrival and dismissal. Drive carefully!
• Bus route information may be found below pages (if your child is using for bus service).

• HLA students must wear their uniforms starting from the first day of school. Please help ensure that your child complies with the HLA uniform policy every day.
• If your child requires medication during the school day, parents must bring the medication directly to the clinic and complete the necessary paperwork

All Horizon Leadership Academy students, except preschool students, must wear the official school uniform each day. Uniforms should be clean, properly fitted, and worn throughout the entire school day, including field trips. Approved uniform pants are navy blue, khaki, or black, and students must wear an approved navy blue or green polo shirt. Closed-toe, securely fastened shoes are required; sandals, Crocs, slides, flip-flops, slippers, and roller shoes are not permitted. During cold weather, students may wear solid navy blue, green, or black outerwear without large graphics or distracting designs. Hoodies, pajama-style jackets, blankets, jeans, cargo pants, leggings, and joggers are not allowed. Welcome back! As we begin the school year, here are a few important health guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth start for all students:

💊 Medication Policy

• All medications (prescription and over-the-counter, including cough drops) must be brought in by a parent/guardian in the original container.

• Students may not carry medications in backpacks or lunch kits.

• Medications must be stored in the clinic and accompanied by a Medication Authorization Form, signed by a parent. Prescription medications also require a physician’s signature.

• Over-the-counter meds can only be given according to the label instructions for your child’s age/weight, unless a doctor’s note provides alternate directions.

• Any medication required for more than 15 school days must be accompanied by a physician’s note.

• The school does not stock over-the-counter medications.

💉 Vaccination Reminder

All students — new and returning — are required to be up to date on vaccinations in order to attend school. Please ensure your child's immunization records are current.

Horizon Leadership Academy will begin using ParentSquare for all parent and family communications, including school announcements, classroom updates, event information, forms, reminders, and invitations. ParentSquare will make it easier for families to stay informed and connected in one convenient place. Invitations to activate your ParentSquare account will be sent in the coming days, so please watch your email and text messages for instructions. We encourage all families to activate their accounts as soon as they receive their invitation.
