College and Career in Full Swing at GOHS!
Door decorating contests, CCGI prize wheels, and counselor-led lessons bring career and college planning to life at GOHS.
Preparing our students for life after high school is one of our top priorities at Great Oak High School. This week, our campus has been buzzing with energy as we host College and Career Kick Off (CKO)—a dynamic series of interactive events, classroom guidance, and hands-on workshops designed to help every student chart their post-secondary path!
College Door Decorating Contest: Walk down our hallways and you will see remarkable creativity on display! Classrooms across campus decorated their doors with college pride, career paths, and motivational themes to inspire our Wolfpack.
Spin the Wheel for Prizes & CCGI Exploration: Students completed key planning tasks on the California Colleges Guidance Initiative (CCGI) platform to research colleges and match their personal interests with potential careers. Completing their tasks earned them a chance to spin the prize wheel during lunch!
Campus Planter Signs: Keep an eye out for custom college and career visual displays featured in our campus planters, highlighting various institutions, trade pathways, and career options.
Counselor Lessons in English Classrooms: Our school counselors visited English classrooms across campus to deliver hands-on guidance lessons, helping students align their strengths and interests with concrete post-secondary goals.
College Application Workshops: For our seniors, applying to college can feel overwhelming, but they do not have to do it alone! We held application workshops where students received direct, step-by-step assistance with their college applications and financial aid prep.
Whether your student is exploring four-year universities, community colleges, trade programs, or military pathways, our team is dedicated to providing the tools and resources they need to succeed after graduation.

#BetheOne: October Student of the Month - Hayley Foo
Each month, Great Oak High School recognizes a student who embodies the heart and values of our school community. It is my absolute honor and pleasure to announce our October Student of the Month: Hayley Foo!
Having had the true privilege of watching Hayley grow over time—first as her elementary school principal and now here at GOHS—I can tell you firsthand that she represents the absolute best of our SPIRIT values:
Scholarship: Hayley exemplifies academic excellence at the highest level, excelling across rigorous coursework ranging from AP Chemistry and IB High-Level Biology to advanced English.
Passion: Her passion for expression earned her the prestigious distinction of being named the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) Poet Laureate. That same passion extends to the sciences, where she earned 3rd place and a bronze medal in the high school division of the RCOE Science and Engineering Fair last year!
Involvement: Through her leadership with UNICEF, Hayley demonstrates a true servant’s heart and a deep commitment to serving others.
Integrity & Teamwork: Looking ahead with plans to attend Yale to pursue pediatrics, business, or finance, Hayley consistently leads with integrity, compassion, and a collaborative spirit.
Reflection: Demonstrating wisdom beyond her years, Hayley shares great advice for all Wolfpack students: “Get your feet wet, explore new things, put yourself out there, and always lean on your support network.”
As she prepares to finish her senior year and embark on her next chapter, I have no doubt that Hayley will use her vision, drive, and empathy to make a lasting impact in healthcare, business, and literature. The future is infinitely brighter with leaders like Hayley Foo at the helm!
Please join us in congratulating Hayley on this well-deserved honor!

At Great Oak High School, community partnerships play a vital role in expanding opportunities for our students. AFJROTC Drone Program: Grant funding has enabled our AFJROTC Drone program to take flight, providing cutting-edge equipment and hands-on STEM experiences for our cadets.
- Club & Campus Resources: Student clubs across campus receive essential supplies and materials, keeping campus life vibrant and accessible for everyone.
- The Clubhouse: Grant funding has allowed us to create an inclusive, low-sensory space where students can hang out during lunch, play foosball or puzzles, unwind, and escape the crowd.
Instructional & Professional Development: Funds support teacher-led learning and professional development, ensuring our educators have the modern tools and strategies needed to drive student success.
Athletic Upgrades: Grant contributions directly support equipment refurbishment and facility improvements, keeping our student-athletes safe, competitive, and proud to represent the Pack.

Level Up Your Future! 🎮 Daily Attendance, Career Skills, and Future Pathways
Dear Wolfpack Families,
As October begins, our district-wide "Level Up" attendance initiative shifts focus toward long-term goals and unlocking future opportunities. Across all secondary grades, daily attendance is the single most important factor in building the academic foundation, habits, and real-world skills needed for what comes next.
This month, we are connecting the daily routine of showing up to class directly with academic growth, future college applications, and job/career readiness.
How Daily Attendance Powers Up Secondary Student Success:
🎮 Unlocking Your Academic Skill Tree: Every day in secondary classrooms helps students master core concepts, fulfill credit requirements, and explore electives—like STEM, CTE, and visual/performing arts—that shape their personal interests and career pathways.
🎓 Navigating College, Trade & Career Pathways: Daily presence directly supports student GPAs, transcripts, and hands-on lab experiences. Whether your secondary student is aiming for college admission, trade certification programs, or job/career entry, consistency is the ultimate key to unlocking post-secondary goals.
🛠️ Building Real-World Workplace Habits: Punctuality and daily presence are two of the most critical skills requested by modern employers. By showing up every day, secondary students practice self-management, teamwork, and accountability.
📊 Monitoring Your Student’s Stats: Check the Infinite Campus Parent Portal regularly with your student to review attendance records, track academic progress, and celebrate their consistency together.
Every day in class brings your secondary student one step closer to unlocking their diploma and launching their next big quest. If your student is struggling with attendance, morning routines, or academic stress, please reach out to our counseling department—we are here to help them build a clear pathway to success.
Let’s keep leveling up and building for the future this October!

A Note From PBIS: PBIS & Eligibility Reminders
Dear Great Oak Families,
As we work together to support student success, clear communication about our campus expectations is key. Today, we want to share an important reminder regarding student eligibility for extracurricular activities, events, and campus privileges through our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program.
Students who accumulate 8 or more hours of detention—due to tardies, single-period truancies, or other disciplinary actions—are placed on our school’s NO GO List.
What does being on the NO GO List mean?
Students on the NO GO List are temporarily ineligible for several school privileges and events, including:
Purchasing items from the school bookstore (e.g., parking permits, Prom tickets, Disneyland Grad Night tickets, graduation cords, and stoles).
Attending school events, dances, rallies, assemblies, or athletic contests.
Student-Athletes: Inability to leave class early for away game transportation or participate in home/away athletic contests.
How to Get Off the NO GO List
To regain full eligibility, students must clear their detention hours to below 8 hours total. Detention can be served at the following times in Room 306:
Before School: 7:50 AM – 8:20 AM
Lunch: Every day in Room 306
After School: 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Saturday School (4 Hours of Credit): The next Saturday School takes place on Saturday, October 17th.
Parents and students can sign up for the upcoming Saturday School using this registration link.
Senior Class Reminder 🎓
A special note for our Senior class families: Seniors must clear ALL outstanding discipline hours prior to the end of the school year in order to receive their graduation tickets. We strongly encourage seniors to begin clearing any balance now so they stay on track for graduation celebrations!
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in encouraging prompt attendance and positive habits. If you have questions regarding your student’s detention balance or PBIS status, please reach out to our PBIS Coordinator, Mr. Morton, or contact the front office.
