✝️ Prayer
🌸 A Springtime Prayer 🌸
Loving God,
Thank you for the beauty of springtime
and for the new life we see all around us.
Thank you for the warmth of the sunshine,
the colourful flowers, the green leaves
and the gentle signs of new beginnings.
As the world around us comes alive,
remind us that we too can grow and change.
Help us to be open to new possibilities,
to care for one another,
and to bring kindness and joy wherever we go.
May we notice the little things that make each day special
and be grateful for the wonderful world you have created.
Bless our school, our families and our community,
and help us to grow in wisdom, courage and compassion.
Amen.

To our wonderful St Denis families,
As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding term, it is hard to believe how quickly Term 3 has passed! We have certainly packed a lot into the past ten weeks, and I am incredibly proud of the way our students have embraced their learning, challenged themselves and contributed to our wonderful school community.
We have one more busy and fun-filled week and a half ahead, with lots happening across the school. I am looking forward to celebrating the end of the term with our students, staff and families before we all enjoy a well-earned break. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school, it makes such a difference to our community.
I will be taking some Long Service Leave for the first four days of Term 4 and assisting on a panel on the first Friday at a CEWA school. I will return to school on Monday, 19 October. While I am away, Mrs B and Mrs Scaddan will be available to assist with any matters that arise. I hope everyone has a wonderful break, and I look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for another exciting term!
Looking Ahead to Our Feast Day
Our St Denis Feast Day is coming up, and we are looking forward to celebrating this special occasion together as a school community.
As we gather for Mass, we are grateful for the opportunity to pause, pray and reflect on the life and example of St Denis and the values that continue to shape our school. While the weather can be unpredictable at this time of year, we are fortunate to be able to celebrate Mass together here at school, allowing our whole school community to come together regardless of what the weather has in store.
A special thank you to Father Anthony for celebrating Mass with us and for the wonderful care, encouragement and support he continues to show our school. We are very grateful for his presence in the life of St Denis and for the strong and positive relationship we share with our parish.
We look forward to celebrating our Feast Day together and giving thanks for the wonderful community that is St Denis.
🌈 Colour Run Update!
Our St Denis Feast Day Colour Run is just around the corner, and we are getting very excited! It promises to be a fun-filled day with plenty of colour, laughter and school spirit as we celebrate together.
🌈 A Huge Thank You to Our Colour Run Sponsors! 🌈
We would like to say thank you to our incredibly generous Colour Run sponsors who have helped make this Friday’s event possible and extra special for our students!
Our sincere thanks to:
🌈 Manders Family
🌈 Scali Family – ASCOT Settlements
🌈 Tarratt Family
🌈 Professionals Realty TWT Joondanna
Our sponsors have generously provided ice poles, a foam machine, coloured chalk and a range of other supplies that will help make the Colour Run such a fun, colourful and memorable day for our students.
We are so grateful for the wonderful support of our St Denis families and local community. Events like this simply would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors and the people who get behind our school.
A reminder that the Colour Run will take place on Friday, 18 September, following our whole-school Mass and Feast Day activities. Thank you to all the families who have already registered and started fundraising — your support is helping us raise much-needed funds for our school, with 20% of profits being donated to MNDWA.
Please make sure you check the Colour Run Frequently Asked Questions for important information about what students should wear and bring on the day, as well as details about the colour powder and ingredients. We can't wait to see everyone covered in colour! 🌈
Student Voice in Action
At St Denis, we value the ideas, opinions and perspectives of our students. Our recently introduced Student Advisory Committee provides an opportunity for students to share their ideas, raise issues that are important to them and contribute to making our school an even better place.
The Committee recently met to discuss ideas for some upcoming events and learning experiences. It was wonderful to hear the thoughtful suggestions from our students and to see how their ideas are already helping to shape what happens at St Denis.
For Grandparents Day, students suggested having healthy fruit options available for our grandparents, colouring activities in the library, a special word search featuring different names for grandparents and Auslan games in the Auslan room.
The students also shared ideas about Mathematics, including more opportunities to play card games and participate in riddles and Esti mystery challenges. In Term 4, we will run Numero extension sessions for students in Years 3 to 6. Another great suggestion was for our Year 5 and 6 students to teach maths games to their Year 1 and 2 buddies.
Looking ahead to Meet the Teacher, students would love opportunities to learn more about their teachers through art activities, Blooket games and All About Me activities.
We are very proud of the way our students are contributing their ideas and helping to shape our school. Our Student Advisory Committee is a wonderful example of student voice and agency in action, and we look forward to seeing many of these ideas come to life.
Save the Date: Grandparents & Special Friends Mass and Morning Tea
We are looking forward to welcoming our wonderful Grandparents and Special Friends to St Denis School for a special Mass and morning tea. This is a lovely opportunity for our students to celebrate the important people in their lives and share a little of our St Denis community with them.
We understand that not every child has a grandparent who is able to attend, so “Special Friends” may be a family member, family friend, neighbour, godparent or another special person who plays an important role in your child’s life. We want every student to have someone special to share this occasion with.
📅 Date: Friday 23 October
⏰ Time: 9am (Church) followed by morning tea (school)
📍 Location: St Denis Church for mass with morning tea back at St Denis School.
Please save the date more information and an invitation will be shared soon!
Have a lovely end to the school term.
Warm regards,
Sarah Potts
