DRAMA DEPARTMENT

We have held auditions for our winter play, "Romeo and Juliet", and will be announcing our cast soon! We are doing a collaboration with the Snake River Theater Company, complete with green and purple costumes and decor! BHDC is also proud to announce our spring musical, "Grease!" which will be performed in March by our own talented BHS drama students.

NYC in 2023!! Mrs. Hoge is taking students to New York City! We will see 4 Broadway shows, meet Broadway performers, see the Statue of Liberty and more! We have several spots left but we need you to sign up by December 15!! If you have any questions see Mrs. Hoge in room 802.

ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE AND CLOTHING DRIVE

We will be starting our annual food drive right after Thanksgiving. We have the opportunity to award 55 families in our community with a Christmas dinner. We are asking for food donations from our students from Nov. 28- Dec.8. We also have the opportunity to participate in the "Keep Ukraine Warm" project. We will be collecting hats, gloves, and warm socks to send refugees there. Please consider helping us out.

Update from the BHS Music Department!

The Idaho Music Educators Association recently announced the list of students chosen for the 2023 All-State Honor Groups. Top Musicians from around the state will meet in Pocatello, February 1st - February 4, 2023, on the Idaho State University campus. Students will rehearse with nationally renowned conductors of the All-State Band, Orchestra, and Mixed and Treble Choirs. The final Gala Concert is open to the public Saturday, Feb. 4th.

Congratulations to the following students for selection to their respective Honor Groups;

Students under the direction of Chris Dunbar, Vocal Music Teacher at Blackfoot High School:

Kylee George - Senior - Mixed Choir

Devin Lindsay - Junior - Mixed Choir

Ryan Hammond - Sophomore - Mixed Choir

Allie Hoge - Senior - Treble Choir

Mekina Stuart - Senior - Treble Choir

Audrey Vail - Junior - Treble Choir

Brecken Weaver - Junior - Treble Choir

Sage Howell - Sophomore - Treble Choir

Molly Whyte - Freshman - Treble Choir

Students under the direction of Amanda Empey, Instrumental Music Teacher at Blackfoot High School;

Chris Hammond - Junior - Band

Cassandra Eskelsen - Senior - Band

Students under the direction of Chad Barker, Orchestral Music Teacher at Blackfoot High School:

Sydney Stuart - Senior - Orchestra

Furthermore, the Blackfoot High School A Capella Choir submitted recordings and has been selected to be a featured performing group at the conference. This is a great honor and signals this group's talent relative to other high school groups in the state. They will be performing Friday, Feb. 3rd 2023, at 9:30 am. (location TBD)

As stated above, the IMEA All-State Conference will be held at ISU this year. There has been a lot of discussion about permanently moving this event to NNU which would make this the last time that we would host the event on this side of the state. It would be a great opportunity to hear these talented musicians from across the state, as well as to support and honor our very own A Capella Choir as they perform at the conference.

I hope you're all able to join us!
