Dress code:

Richardson Park students will not be required to wear uniforms this year. We will follow the district dress code policies found in the student handbook.

Student Dress Code The following guidance shall govern the dress of students in RCCSD schools. The RCCSD believes that:

● All students should be provided the environment, resources and commitment necessary to ensure that they succeed.

● Students and their parents/guardians hold the primary responsibility in determining their personal attire, hairstyle, jewelry, etc.

● Schools are responsible for ensuring that student dress does not interfere with the health or safety of any student and does not contribute to a hostile or intimidating environment for any student.

● Schools are responsible for the safety of the school community.

● Students should be able to dress in a manner that expresses their individuality without fear of unnecessary discipline or body shaming.

● Students and staff are responsible for managing their own personal distractions. ● Students should not face unnecessary barriers to attending school. Specialized Classes/Programs

● Clothing must be suitable for all scheduled classroom activities, including physical education, science labs, CTE classes, and other activities where unique hazards or specialized attire or safety gear is required. Dress Code

● Students must wear clothing including both a shirt with pants or skirt, or the equivalent. The torso must be covered and undergarments must not be visible.

● Students must wear shoes with a sole.

● Hats and other head coverings are not to be worn in schools except in cases of medical, and religious reasons.

Clothing may not:

depict, advertise or advocate the use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana or other controlled substances. ● depict pornography, nudity or sexual acts.

● share or depict hate speech.

● Depict violence or threaten the health or safety of any other student or staff member.

This policy permits schools approved through RCCSD Administrative Memorandum 8001.7 School Uniform to continue with their policy provided that it is gender neutral and inclusive of attire worn for religious reasons. Schools adhering to this administrative memorandum should also follow the consequences below.

Consequences

● Students have the right to be treated equitably. Dress code enforcement will not create disparities, reinforce or increase marginalization of any group, nor will it be more strictly enforced against students because of racial identity, ethnicity, gender identity, gender expression, gender nonconformity, sexual orientation, cultural or religious identity, household income, body size/type, or body maturity.

● Principals are required to ensure that all staff are aware of and understand the guidelines of this policy.

● Staff will not enforce the dress code of one student in front of other students.

● Students shall not be removed from class as a consequence for wearing attire in violation of this policy unless the attire creates a substantial disruption to the educational environment, poses a hazard to the health or safety of others, or factors into other student Code of Conduct violations.

● A typical first response for a violation of this policy is student redirection. Students should be provided the opportunity to change into dress code compliant clothes.

Arrivals and Dismissal

All Park students will either walk, ride the bus or be dropped off. If you are dropping off you child, you must use the car line and go through the park.

Arrival - Please do not get out of your car as we will have staff that will assist your child into the building. If you must get out of the car, you will need to park. We need to keep the traffic flowing smoothly. The school day: doors open at 8:50 and students are late if they arrive after 9:10.

Dismissal Early dismissal will end at 3:15. Students must have a note as to why they are leaving early. This process has been abused by some and we are cracking down this year on the chronic early dismissals. The day ends at 3:45. Also, if you are picking your child up, you must use the car line. Cars are not allowed to park in the parking late to pick up your child.

Llegadas y Salidas

Car Tags

Those of you who use the car line to drop your students off will keep the same car tag that you had last year. Kindergarten parents may pick up a car tag at Meet the teacher night or one will be issued to your child through their homeroom teacher. If you need to replace a tag, you can pick one up on this Thursday 8/21 or reach out to your homeroom teacher.

Car Lines

If you are dropping you students off or picking your student up you must use the car lines. The car lines go through Banning Park. You will turn right into the entrance of the Park and go through the round about. Our Staff at Richardson Park will direct you on when and where to go. We have an efficient and smooth process that when everyone follows the procedures we move through quickly. When picking up or dropping off, please do not get out of the car. We have staff that will make sure the students enter the building and get to class safely. Please adhere to the arrival and departure rules. A failure to do so can cause you to lose your privileges on our campus. We appreciate your support with this. If students have chronic attendance issues, we will follow the process of reporting truancy and if necessary refer to family court. Please get your students here each day.
