You Belong Here

I am headed to the Step up for Colleen 5K as this newsletter comes out! Thank you all who supported this race and are on their way their now! What a wonderful way to show our Bulldog Spirit!

This week is Staff Appreciation Week, and we are so excited to celebrate all the amazing educators who make Sanborn such a special place. Our teachers work hard every day to help students grow, feel supported, and know they belong. A big thank-you to our awesome PTO, who is taking care of showing appreciation on behalf of families with fun treats and surprises all week long. We are grateful for everything our staff does, and we are lucky to have such a strong school community cheering them on!

This week is a busy one! On Monday, Kindergarten will enjoy an in-school enrichment visit from Animal Adventures, and on Tuesday, fifth grade will take a field trip to the Seacoast Science Center—both are generously sponsored by our amazing PTO and supported by your Fun Run dollars! Our third graders will take the Math MCAS on Tuesday and Thursday, and we know they’ll give it their best effort. On our half day Wednesday, we’re excited to welcome our newest bulldogs for a special visit. With just 29 school days left, every day counts—let’s keep up strong attendance, stay focused, and make the most of this final stretch of learning together!

The last day of school was voted on by the school committee on Thursday as well. It will be June 13th and students will be dismissed at 12:15. That also means that June 12th will be the Celebration of Learning for 5th Graders at 9:30.

Mood Meter Update

We will continue to explore the Mood Meter at Sanborn School. We are returning to words in the Yellow Quadrant, which represents high energy and high pleasantness. You can practice these words at home.

  • Kindergarten – proud

  • First Grade – joyful

  • Second Grade – hopeful

  • Third Grade – motivated

  • Fourth Grade – determined

  • Fifth Grade – committed

    • We’re excited to celebrate our staff during Staff Appreciation Week (May 5-9) with a Candyland-inspired journey of gratitude, treats, and surprises. On top of the gifts covered by room parent donations, the PTO will also have staff-wide fun setup in the teacher's lounge. Each day will highlight a different “sweet stop” along the Candyland path—filled with fun, food, and appreciation! Wednesday features the Staff Appreciation Lunch and Raffle, with all the fun items you have donated. Thank you to all the families who have helped to make this week extra special! Your donations, notes, and time make a world of difference.
