School Funding Referendum Addresses Teacher & Staff Raises School Funding Referendum Addresses Teacher & Staff Raises

zoom_out_map

The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling a School Funding Referendum for November 5 during the Monday, Aug. 19 regular Board meeting.

If approved, the AISD’s School Funding Referendum would generate approximately $2.5 million to address budget priorities including teacher and staff pay raises, providing campus support positions, and addressing increasing class sizes for the future. This referendum includes a 7.7-cent tax increase to the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) tax rate.

VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE - OCTOBER 7 - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

The M&O rate funds school district operations, instruction, staff, transportation, maintenance, and daily operating expenses. In contrast, the Interest & Sinking (I&S) fund, representing the other part of the district’s annual budget, is financed through bonds. Bond funds from the I&S budget cannot be used for operational costs such as teacher raises, rising utilities, increasing insurance costs, or other day-to-day expenses.

We need action and we need it now! Please join us in asking our legislators to prioritize public education funding!

Presently,

  • Argyle ISD is one of few districts in the state that has received the Formula Transition Grant since 2019 and faces a significant funding cliff beginning with the 2024-2025 fiscal year when FTG expires,
  • Argyle ISD is subject to losing approximately $250,000 via the Robin Hood formula of “recapture,”
  • There has been NO CHANGE to the basic allotment despite 40-year record inflation.
  • Argyle ISD, like most school districts in Texas, is struggling to provide meaningful raises to our teachers.

AEF's New Mission: Help Fund Teachers AEF's New Mission: Help Fund Teachers

zoom_out_map

The Argyle Education Foundation has a new mission: to raise funds directly supporting year-end bonuses for our hardworking teachers. Teachers are the heart of our educational community, and they deserve our unwavering support, especially during these uncertain times.

How can I get involved? Here's 3 ways you can help!

  1. Make a donation to AEF! Did you know that if every student in the district made a $100 donation that AEF would be able to give over $1,000 to every teacher, counselor and nurse in the district?

  2. Support an event! The AEF fall Cornhole fundraiser is coming up on November 10! Join us as a sponsor or grab a group of friends and create a team!

  3. Spread the word! Great news travels fast, so help us share our new mission so we can make an impact for our teachers!
