FAMILY ACTIVITY NIGHT INFORMATION
– Story Reading Night –
Coyle families are invited to a wonderful hands-on activity night on reading.
At Phil’s new Story Reading Night, the kids build their own didgeridoos, and then retell an ancient musical story from Australia called The First Didgeridoo.
They also make toad croakers, bee buzzers, and duck quackers, and join together for an interactive Vietnamese musical story called Uncle Toad.
Phil also shows parents how they can help their kids become better readers by playing comprehension games at home.
Finally, they finish the evening with a sound effects activity, featuring some of Phil’s favorite old-time radio broadcasts!

New Volunteer
Would you like to Volunteer? Here is your first step!
Go to www.sanjuan.edu/volunteer
Click on the Volunteer Verification Button
Fill out the information and submit
The District will reach out with the additional steps that you may need to do such as Fingerprinting.
Please remember that the process takes 2-6 weeks after fingerprinting. You cannot volunteer until you have been fingerprinted and cleared so the sooner the better!
If you have been fingerprinted with San Juan Unified School District, you do not have to do it again. It is valid as long as you have students in a San Juan Unified School. If we are notified of any changes to your status, we will reach out to you.
All Volunteers Must Sign in At the Office!

Parking Lot Update
No Left Turns at Dismissal
In our ongoing mission to make dismissal smoother, safer, and just a little less like a scene from a traffic jam movie, we’re implementing a small change with a big impact:
Effective immediately, left turns out of the school parking lot will not be permitted during dismissal time.
(Yes, your GPS might be upset, but your fellow drivers will thank you!)
You’re still welcome to make a left turn during other parts of the school day—just not during that high-traffic window when we're all racing the clock.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep the flow moving and the horns honking to a minimum. Think of it as turning right… in the right direction!
Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe and (mostly) sane.
Pick-Up Line PSA
Friendly reminder: Please don’t double-park and abandon your vehicle during pick-up. When you do, traffic gets stuck, kids can’t get through safely, and the rest of us wonder if your car has been left behind as modern art. If you need to walk up, please use a designated parking spot—your fellow parents (and our traffic flow) will thank you!
Medications at School
Medications at School
A designated school employee may administer medication during the school hours only upon written request of both the physician and parent(s) or guardian, detailing the method, amount, and time the medication is to be taken.
Medication will be administered only to students whose parent and physician deem it necessary for potentially life-threatening medical conditions or for those who need medication administered during the school day in order to interact appropriately at school.
Authorization forms for medication are available to download below, or at each school office. A new form must be completed before the start of each school year. Medications must be brought to the school office in their original container.
