ATTITUDES OF GRATITUDE ATTITUDES OF GRATITUDE

As we embrace the spirit of Thanksgiving, Gold Rush Elementary has so much to be grateful for. This month, our students have been reflecting on the amazing things in our community, from family members and friends to the teachers and staff who support them every day. Our halls are filled with beautiful artwork and heartfelt written pieces that express the students' "attitudes of gratitude." It’s been truly inspiring to see the creativity and thoughtfulness our students bring to this time of year.

Creative Celebrations of Gratitude

This month, our students got into the holiday spirit in some fun and creative ways! Kindergarten students crafted adorable turkeys, while our fourth graders took it to the next level by disguising turkeys as anything but turkeys! From turkeys dressed as Starbucks cups to football players, animals, and more, we’ve seen a wide range of imaginative costumes that showcase the students’ creativity. It's been a joy to see these festive, funny, and clever designs filling our classrooms.

Thanksgiving Feast

In addition to their creative projects, our students also had the opportunity to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast during lunch. We are incredibly grateful to our cafeteria staff for preparing such a delicious meal, and for creating a warm and festive atmosphere for our students to celebrate together.

A Big Thank You to Our Families

As we reflect on what we are thankful for, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Gold Rush families. Your daily support and involvement are what make our community so special. Whether it’s helping with school projects, volunteering at events, or simply offering encouragement to your child, we appreciate all that you do. We’re truly grateful for the partnership we share in helping our students grow and succeed.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING SCHOOLS THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING SCHOOLS

We thank our parents and the community for supporting our schools! As you are aware, ballot initiative 5A (a $490 million bond) passed - with 60 percent of the vote! We are incredibly thankful to the voters of Douglas County for understanding our need to care for our buildings and provide our students and staff with comfortable learning environments.

The funding will help the District with the following:

  • Update and equip aging schools and facilities.

  • Create additional Career and Technical Education pathways, including for our students with special education needs.

  • Construct two new elementary schools in rapidly growing neighborhoods (one in RidgeGate and one in Sterling Ranch).

  • Build an expansion at Sierra Middle School.

  • Begin Phase 2 of the Legacy Campus

  • Provide safety and security updates at all schools.

Gold Rush will also benefit from the funds. Gold Rush will be able to address HVAC issues. Funds will also go to updating intercom systems, fire alarms and additional security measures. As always we appreciate your ongoing support!

THANK YOU PARENTS & PARENT VOLUNTEERS THANK YOU PARENTS & PARENT VOLUNTEERS

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers and our amazing librarian, Mrs. Golish, for making this year’s Fall Book Fair a tremendous success! Your hard work and dedication helped create a fun and engaging event for our students, and it was truly a week to remember.

Our students loved exploring the wide selection of new titles and finding books that sparked their imaginations. Thanks to your efforts, we were able to offer a great variety of books, from exciting new releases to beloved classics. The enthusiasm was contagious, and it was wonderful to see so many young readers leaving with books they’re eager to dive into!

We appreciate all of the volunteers who helped with setup, staffing, and tear down—your time and support made this event possible. And a special thank you to Mrs. Golish for her leadership and passion for reading. You truly made this book fair a memorable experience for our students!

We’re already looking forward to next year’s event and can’t wait to see how we continue to inspire a love of reading in our Gold Rush community.

INTENT TO RETURN SURVEY INTENT TO RETURN SURVEY

Families are now able to access Open Enrollment across the District. Current open enrolled families do not need to reapply for the Open Enrollment process. However, families whose students will be transitioning to Cimarron Middle School for 6th grade will need to complete this process.

Our goal is to maintain small class sizes, and knowing your family’s intent to return for the 2025-2026 school year is crucial in helping us determine the grade levels where we can accept new families. We kindly ask that you complete the Intent to Return survey as soon as possible—only one survey is needed per family. Click here for the survey.

Thank you for your cooperation and support as we plan for another successful year!
