🐾 Attendance Matters 🐾
One of the most important factors in your academic success is regular school attendance. Below you will find some of the reasons why attendance is so important to your educational journey, along with strategies to help make sure you get to school each day.
- Academic Achievement: Regular attendance has a strong correlation with academic success. When students attend school consistently, they have the opportunity to engage in classroom activities, work with their peers, complete assignments, and ask for help, which leads to better academic outcomes.
- Real-World Expectations: Regular attendance prepares students for the expectations they will face in higher education and the workplace. Being punctual, present, and dependable are expectations as they enter the real world!
- Continuity of Learning: Skills and concepts build on each other each day. Missing school disrupts the continuity of learning and makes it difficult for students to grasp new concepts and stay on track. Many students feel overwhelmed after missing school because the learning has continued without them, and they now have to learn what was taught when they were gone, as well as what is being taught today.

🐾 Always try to be a little kinder than what is necessary. 🐾
We are about to wrap up 7th and 8th grade classroom lessons for the School Counseling Office! 8th Graders learned about Respect, Responsibility and Resilience: The Importance of Character Building. We discussed how building a strong moral foundation is essential to having a positive educational and social experience in middle school. We learned how respect, responsibility and resilience looks in the school setting, at home and in the community. 8th Graders were challenged to hold others accountable to JCMS' Panther Way to make our school family stronger. 7th Graders will be learning from Mr. McKinney the importance of self-respect and the impact this can have on their lives in and out of the classroom.
🐾 JCMS Panther Project 🐾
We will be starting the Panther Project the first week of September, which is a food assistance program to help families cover meals for the weekend. Food bags are delivered to student lockers and they take the bags home on Fridays. If this is a resource your family could benefit from, please have your student fill out the Panther Project Google Form posted in the School Counseling Office - Google Classroom, and we will be more than happy to help!
