Dear Families,

At Vine Street, we see every single day as a milestone in your child’s educational journey. We are writing to ask for your partnership in ensuring your child attends school every day, on time, and ready to learn.

When students miss school, they miss out on more than just lessons—they miss critical classroom discussions, collaborative group work, and immediate support from their teachers. Regular attendance builds strong habits, boosts academic confidence, and keeps your child connected to their friends and school community.

We particularly want to highlight our Early Release Days. It is important to remember that an early release day is still a full school day. Valuable, core instruction takes place during these morning hours, and missing them can cause students to fall behind.

To make these shorter days highly engaging and impactful, our teachers plan unique and fun activities that students won't want to miss. These activities are designed to enrich your child's learning experience and keep our school community vibrant and connected.

Please also remember that everytime your child does need to be out, you must call the office and let us know. If we do not hear from you it is an unexcused absence. If this happens 5 days in a row or 7 days cumulatively, your child is truent per Maine State law.

Thank you for your continued dedication to your child’s education. By working together to make attendance a priority every day, we give our students the best foundation for success.

As a friendly reminder, students are not allowed to wear costumes or costume pieces to school. Thank you for your help in making sure we are all following this expectation. We appreciate your support!

Unfortunately, we did not meet our 95% attendance goal this week. We had so many students absent on Wednesday, our early release day. Our attendance was only 86.98% 😭! Please remember that EVERY day of school is important. Lessons and learning continue on our 1/2 days of school so it is important for students to attend. Please help us try to meet our goal by making daily attendance a priority next week!

PreK - 98.00%

Kindergarten - 93.14%

First Grade - 92.00%

Second Grade - 95.12%

Third Grade - 95.79%

School Wide - 94.56%
