Dear Southeastern Families,

We just completed our first Walk to Read/intervention regrouping meeting for students in grades 1st–5th grade! Teachers met with our support staff to review student data and determine the best placement for each student based on their specific reading needs. Our goal is to make sure every student is receiving targeted instruction to help them grow as readers. Our reading coaches play a major role in this process, working alongside teachers and support staff to analyze data, identify student needs, and provide targeted reading instruction. At Southeastern, we are committed to following the Science of Reading and using research-based practices to support student growth and success. By working together and continually monitoring progress, we can make informed decisions that help every student become a stronger reader! Students will begin their new groups on Tuesday, October 20. We will continue to send home reading progress reports each month so you can stay informed about your child’s progress. You can expect the next progress report on Monday, November 2.

If you have any questions about our November bond proposal, please reach out to me or to Jayson Bussa, our director of public relations, at Jayson.Bussa@hassk12.org.
