November 2025 Newsletter
Safe, On-Task, Accountable, Respectful
From Dr. Cardenas, Principal
Dear Evergreen Families,
October was absolutely packed with activity! We had Red Ribbon Week, Student Action Teams in full swing, field trips, grade level programs, our annual costume parade, and Family Fun Night—and that's just scratching the surface. It was wonderful to see our students so engaged and excited throughout the month.
I want to take a moment to thank our volunteers and community partners. You show up for our students and staff in so many ways, and we truly appreciate everything you do. Whether you're helping in classrooms, joining us on field trips, or supporting our programs and events, your time and effort make a real difference here at Evergreen.
November is shaping up to be just as busy! We have yearbook elections coming up, more field trips, a school-wide assembly, and Thanksgiving Break to look forward to. Please be sure to read the entire newsletter so you can keep up with all that's happening at Evergreen.
Reminder: There is no school this coming Monday and Tuesday, November 10 and 11, in honor of Veterans Day. Thank you, and have a wonderful long weekend!
With gratitude,
Dr. Cardenas
Principal, Evergreen Elementary

Thank You for Your Continued Support!
Dear Evergreen Families,
We hope you and your loved ones are enjoying a wonderful fall season. As we head into November, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible support you continue to show our school and community.
🎬 Movie Night – Thank You!
At the beginning of October, we kicked off the month with our Movie Night featuring Elio. Even with some questionable weather earlier in the day, it was truly heartwarming to see so many families bundle up, come out, and enjoy a cozy evening together.
A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who worked the concession stands and helped everything run so smoothly — you make events like these possible!
🎡 Family Fun Night – A Huge Success!
Just a couple of weeks ago, we hosted our annual Family Fun Night, one of the biggest events of the year. Thank you to every parent who helped plan, coordinate, and volunteer — from setup to clean-up, games to concessions.
We may be biased, but we truly believe Evergreen has the most supportive families ever! 💚
🎁 Holiday Toy & Food Drive
Our Toy & Food Drive is currently in full swing. We are collecting donations every morning before school. This is a wonderful opportunity to support families in need within our community during the holiday season.
✅ New toys
✅ Non-expired food items (please ensure food is in good condition & suitable for holiday use)
If your family could benefit from these donations, please do not hesitate to reach out — all requests remain confidential.

Student Action Teams: Our Leaders Step Up!
Student Action Team are set! I am proud to share that we have nine student action teams, a Student Lighthouse Team, and the entire first grade student action team! Congratulations to all of our student leaders. Thank you students, staff and parents for the leadership opporunities we are providing for our students.
Spirit Assembly is full on GREEN!
Last Friday, our entire school SOARed into leadership during our end of the month school-wide Spirit Assembly! 🙌 Every student and staff were asked to show their school spirit, by wearing a red color shirt.
Our amazing Student Lighthouse Team showed leadership by going class to class, calculating participation percentages 📊🦅.
And the winners are… 🥁
🏆 Primary Spirit Leader Class Winners: Room 8, Mrs. Liu and Mrs. Jeon
🏆 Upper Grade Spirit Leader Class Winners: Room 27, Mrs. Saucedo
These classes will display our Magnetic Spirit Leader Banner with pride! 🔥🙌
Way to go, leaders!
Costume Parade
Our annual Costume Parade was a huge success! The day was filled with fun, creativity, and festive spirit as students showed off their amazing costumes. Families and community members joined in to cheer on the parade, making it a truly special event. The turnout was fantastic, and the smiles and excitement on everyone’s faces made it a memorable day for all. Thank you to our parents, staff, and students for making this celebration such a wonderful success!
2nd Grade Program
This past month, our second graders performed a creative dance to Danse Macabre, moving expressively and connecting beautifully with the music. They also sang songs and recited a poem, showing confidence and poise. Throughout the process, they demonstrated leadership by working together, supporting one another, and sharing their talents with pride.

2025 Educational Results Partnership (ERP) Honor Roll School
Dear Parents,
On behalf of the Evergreen Elementary school community, I want to congratulate you and your scholar(s) Leader(s)! Our school was recently recognized as a 2025 Educational Results Partnership (ERP) Honor Roll School for our high academic achievement and student success.
The ERP Honor Roll program, sponsored by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE), is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and districts that are improving student outcomes and preparing students with the skills employer's value and demand. Evergreen is one of 1,834 eligible public schools in California to be recognized.
The ERP Honor Roll utilizes public school student achievement data from 2025 to identify successful schools and districts. Our school stands above others in the state because of our demonstrated ability to get students to grade-level achievement and beyond.
Schools that receive the ERP Honor Roll distinction have demonstrated consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.
Here a few important details about the ERP Honor Roll:
It is the only award given in collaboration with state and local business leaders.
It establishes a high bar of performance using data from student assessments.
It is conducted by Educational Results Partnership, a nonprofit organization that developed the nation’s largest database on student achievement.
We did not apply for this award. Our results led them to us! Because of our accomplishment, we will be featured on the ERP Honor Roll website at www.edresults.org.
We are thankful for the hard work of our students and teachers here at Evergreen Elementary. This recognition is a testament to the sustained focus on academic results and commitment to lifelong student success that our school and parent community have shown over the years.
Again, congratulations and let’s keep up the great work!
Sincerely,
Gabriel Cardenas Ed.D. Principal
