Message from the Principal:

Dear Parkwood Families,

We hope this message finds you well. We are so grateful for your continued partnership and support — your involvement makes our school community strong and caring.

Celebrations from the Week

STEAM Fair — What a success!

We had an absolutely amazing STEAM Fair! It was wonderful to see students and families learning and exploring together. A heartfelt thank you to our PTO for sponsoring and organizing the event. Special thanks to Ms. Zuniga, our fabulous art teacher, for featuring Parkwood student artwork. Thank you to our community partners for hosting hands-on STEAM activities — your participation made the event extra special.

Monthly Popcorn Friday — Thank you!

Our students love Popcorn Fridays! Thank you to the staff, families, and students who make this event possible. We appreciate families who send in a little extra change to help classmates who may forget their 50 cents — your generosity matters.

Attendance Awareness Poster Contest

Big shout out to our Community in Schools coordinator and our Home Support Specialist for hosting the contest. We received many creative entries — thank you to all students who participated!

Congratulations to our top two winners (pictures below).

Back in the Routine

One thing I love over school breaks as a parent, is the flexibility to adjust our routine. We may stay up later as a family and sleep in. As we get back in the routine of school and work when we return to break, I wanted to send out some tips I found that have been helpful for our family.

"Why is sleep important?

Sleep plays a critical role in development in children; it allows for their bodies to recharge and retain the information they have learned throughout the day. In toddlers, napping allows for memory consolidation, motor skill development, and executive attention. Children and adolescents who regularly obtain an adequate amount of sleep have improved attention, behavior, memory, and learning, in addition to overall mental and physical health."
