Three Finalists Move Forward in Assistant Superintendent Search

Dear Watertown Public Schools Community:

We are pleased to share with you that three finalists have been moved forward in the search process for the position of Assistant Superintendent. I would like to extend a special thank you to the 14-member Search Committee for their tireless work in making these recommendations.

Below you will find more information about each candidate, as well as the week’s events. We welcome members of our community to participate in this stage of the process during the meet and greets in the afternoon. These times are an opportunity for two-way conversations where you get to meet the candidates and they in turn get to learn more about our district. You are also more than welcome to attend the public interview with the candidates and the superintendent that will be held at 4:30 on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. All of these meetings will be held in the Hosmer Amphitheater. Anyone who participates in the public process can provide feedback on the candidates at the end of the sessions via a paper or Google form.

Final Candidates:

  • Emilys Peña (to be interviewed Monday, 2/12) - Ms. Peña has nearly three years of Asst. Superintendent experience, a diverse array of school leadership experience, and insights from outside of K-12 education, as well. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and ASL (and conversant in Portuguese).

  • Kristen Anderson (to be interviewed Wednesday, 2/14) - Ms. Anderson has nearly 10 years of Asst. Superintendent experience, with prior school-based leadership roles, as well. She is a published writer in the field of education and a specialty in mathematics, prior to her school leadership roles.

  • Courtney Gosselin (to be interviewed Thursday, 2/15) - Ms. Gosselin is an experienced administrator with over a decade of school leadership experience in Salem and Somerville. She is bilingual in Spanish & English and has many collaborative experiences with Central Office teams.

Please see the schedule below for more information about times and the location for public participation.
