The News The News

I was away from school last week with 18 of our awesome Seniors in New York City! These students had a great time with each other exploring the greatest city in the world. They got to experience a lot but the laughter and good times together before they go their separate ways was the most important.

I have included several pictures from their trip below. They got to experience the New York City subway multiple times; they explored common tourist spots like Times Square, Central Park, Fifth Avenue, Wall Street, September 11 Memorial, walking the Brooklyn Bridge at night and the Statue of Liberty. They got to view the St. Patrick's Day parade on Fifth Ave., take in a Knicks/Pacers game at Madison Square Garden and see the hit Broadway Show, Hamilton. They also learned you can't believe everything you see or hear on television or social media or from those who never venture outside of their comfort zone.

Our Juniors took the ACT last week. We should receive the scores in a month or so. We had 100 percent participation and it appeared they all did their best.

Congratulations to our softball team on their wins over Red Bay and Tremont last week. Also, congratulations to junior Chaley Bullington. Chaley set an AHSAA record for the most hits in a single game (7) against Red Bay. Also, our baseball team beat Lamar County on Saturday.

Spring Break is upon us and the weather is looking great! I know everyone is excited and ready for a break. Right now our chronic absenteeism rate is a 8% (student who have missed 10% or more of the school year) and on 3.3% of our students have missed 18 or more days (the magic number at the end of the year). If we can stay in this range by the end of the year, we will have set an attendance record for our school. Please continue to this awesome trend!

Have A Great Week!
