Remote Learning

January 4th - 8th, Paw Paw Public Schools will be teaching remotely. Your child's chromebook, charger and books/worksheets have been sent home. They will need to log in with their teacher daily to be counted as present. If for any reason your child is not able to login on a certain day due to illness or a medical appointment, you must call the office like a regular absence from school and submit a medical excuse if there is an appointment.

Meal Pickups will be on Mondays from 3pm-6pm at the High School. Check the PPPS website, https://www.ppps.org/page/food-services or the Facebook page, Paw Paw Public Schools Food Service, for important information or time changes.

You MUST sign up to guarantee pickup. Email director Korrie Perkins: korrie.perkins@ppps.org to sign up. All kids under 18 are eligible.

Update Your Student's Contact Information

  • Save the school's phone number in your phone so it is familiar to you if we need to contact you for any reason.
  • Call the school office with a change of phone number, email address, mailing address or if you need to add/delete an emergency contact.

Be Prepared for the Weather

Don't forget to send your child with their winter coat, snow pants, boots, hat, scarf and mittens to keep them warm.

The office is unable to lend these items this year due to new health protocols.

Pickup/Bus/BASE

If you have any changes to your child's pickup or bus schedule, please call the office by 2pm on full days and 11:15 am on half days even if you have emailed your child's teacher. With the change of the 2020 school hours, the teachers do not always have time to check emails during school the day. Student Wellness

When calling in a sick child, please remember to include what symptoms your child is experiencing. This is important for keeping records of illnesses.

If your child is sent home from school with any symptoms, they may not return to school until the symptoms subside for a full 24hrs.

If your child goes to the doctor, the office will need a letter to dismiss your child's absence from school.

Student Daily Screening Checklist

We have begun taking the student's temperatures as they enter the classroom. Please remember the daily screening commitment you signed at the start of the school year and keep your student home if they are displaying any symptoms listed on the checklist. This is for the good of our students and staff at the Early Elementary. Thank you for your cooperation.

Reading Assessments

As we approach the midyear of the school year, we will be completing our Winter benchmark assessments in reading and math as soon as we return to face-to-face instruction in January. These tests will help us know how our students are progressing toward mastery of the grade level essential standards. We will also be collecting data to help us mark the 2nd quarter report cards at the end of the month.

It can be difficult to come back from vacation and jump right back into learning, especially if we are immediately testing to determine how much growth has been made since school started. Please take time during vacation to listen to your child read every day and to read to them. Use any opportunity to create math problems out of real world situations. (For example, “We have to drive 17 miles to Kalamazoo. We’ve driven 10 miles, so how many more miles do we have until we get there?”) Whatever you do, keep it fun and playful!

Report Cards

Report cards will be sent home the beginning of February. If you have a new address please call or email the office with any updates so your child's report card finds its way to you.
