Summer is not over yet!
Hello Panther Families!
Summer may still be in full swing, but the excitement is building as we gear up for another incredible school year at New Prospect! I hope your break has been filled with joy, adventure, and plenty of time with the people you love. It's not over yet...keep enjoying it!
As I reflect on all we accomplished last year, I am filled with pride for our students, staff, and families. Because of our collective efforts, New Prospect continues to thrive—and that’s why our theme for the coming year is “Let the Good Times Roll!” We are building on success, celebrating growth, and continuing our journey as a high-performing, joyful school community.
Here are just a few highlights from last year:
-
No Place for Hate® & PBIS Distinguished Designation:
New Prospect Elementary is officially recognized as a No Place for Hate & PBIS Distinguished school! These honors reflects our community’s commitment to kindness, inclusion, and respect for all. Our students not only learned about empathy—they lived it each day. -
Outstanding State Recognition (SSAS):
We earned Gold Status on Georgia’s Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS), which measures overall school performance—including academic achievement, growth, and readiness. In addition, we received Silver Status for Greatest Gains, meaning our students showed significant academic growth compared to schools across the state. This is a true testament to the hard work of our students and teachers! -
2025 “Beating the Odds” School:
The state of Georgia also honored New Prospect as a Beating the Odds School. This recognition is given to schools where students outperform expected outcomes, demonstrating exceptional progress regardless of challenges. Simply put—our students exceeded expectations! -
Top-Rated School Community:
We are proud to be a 10/10 school on GreatSchools.org, reflecting strong academic performance, positive school culture, and meaningful family engagement.
Most importantly, behind every award is something even more meaningful—our students’ growth and sense of belonging. Last year, our students grew tremendously, not just academically, but as whole children. Through the arts, our Strong Body, Strong Mind initiative, and our focus on social-emotional well-being, we ensured that every child felt seen, supported, and celebrated. At New Prospect, students know they matter.
As we look ahead, we are excited to keep this momentum going. Together, we will continue to learn, grow, and celebrate each success—big and small.
So get ready, because at New Prospect…
the good times aren’t stopping—they’re just getting started. Let the Good Times Roll!
From your proudest panther,
Amy Lemons
Principal

Welcome to New Prospect!
Georgia Gansereit, PreK Inclusion Teacher
Hi! My name is Georgia Gansereit and this will be my first year as a Special Education teacher! I worked as a paraprofessional at New Prospect last year, and I graduated in 2025 from the University of Richmond with my Bachelor’s in English.
This fall I will be applying to get my Master’s in Elementary Education. My mom has worked at New Prospect for five years now, and she is the one who inspired me to pursue a career in teaching.
NPE already feels like family, and I cannot wait to continue meeting everyone!
Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my brothers and playing pickleball with friends. I am so excited for this upcoming year!
Emma Furr-1st Grade Teacher
My name is Emma Furr and I am so excited to be teaching first grade this coming school year! I graduated from Berry College in the Spring, with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a minor in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
My student teaching placement was in a kindergarten classroom this past year, and I loved seeing all of the growth the students made throughout the school year. I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Norway and teach first graders about sea creatures.
I cannot wait to create a classroom that fosters a love of learning and makes every student excited to come to school each day. I have lived in Alpharetta for eight years and absolutely love it! In my free time, I love spending time with my parents and three brothers. I also enjoy watching movies, hiking, reading, and running. I know this will be an awesome year!
Maddy Davis-2nd Grade Teacher
Hi, I am Maddy Davis and I am very excited to be joining New Prospect Elementary. I attended Kennesaw State University, where I received my degree in Elementary Education. This will be my first year with Fulton County, in my previous years I was in Cobb County and Cherokee County. I could not be more excited to be in Fulton County. I am originally from Arkansas, but have lived in Georgia for 11 years. Outside of the classroom, I love reading, sports (specifically Chicago sports teams, Go Cubs), all things music, concerts, and being around my family. I cannot wait for this school year to begin!
Sarah Ricciardi-3rd Grade Teacher
My name is Sarah Ricciardi and I am thrilled to be teaching 3rd grade at New Prospect Elementary. If I look familiar, you may have seen me subbing, teaching 4th grade at the end of last year, or even as a parent—I have a 5th grade daughter, and my thirteen-year-old son is a proud (former) Panther.
In 2019, my family moved to Georgia from Southern California for my husband's job. Before that, I graduated from San Diego State University, then went on to get my Masters in Education from Pepperdine University. I taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in California, and, last year, decided to switch my credential over to Georgia so I could get back to my love of teaching here at New Prospect.
In my free time, I love to read, write, travel, run, and spend time with friends and family (including our giant Sheepadoodle puppy named Indigo). I look forward to getting to know you, and a magical year in 3rd grade 🙂
Sydney Summers-3rd Grade Teacher
My name is Sydney Summers, & I am a 1st-year, 3rd grade teacher! I graduated from Berry College this past May with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. During my time at Berry, I was also a part of the WinShape College Program, where I was intentionally discipled & had the privilege of discipling younger students in the program.
Teaching has been a desire of mine since I was young. My love for learning & reading always led me back to the classroom. Throughout high school & college I gained valuable experience in classrooms with students of various ages, & I recently completed my student teaching at Berry College Elementary School, where I taught 5th grade.
Outside of school, I love reading, trying fun restaurants, & having deep conversations! Teaching at New Prospect is truly a blessing, & I am excited to share that I will be joined by another Berry grad, and best friend, Emma Furr! I can’t wait to see what is in store for this new year & new community!
Reese Hammond-5th Grade Teacher
Hi everyone! My name is Reese Hammond, and I am so excited to join the New Prospect family this upcoming school year!
I am originally from Cumming, Georgia, and moved to Mississippi to pursue a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Mississippi. I graduated in 2024 with a degree in Elementary Education, with a focus in Reading and Social Studies, along with an endorsement in Special Education. I had the privilege of teaching two years of fourth-grade reading in Oxford, Mississippi.
I am passionate about building students into strong, confident readers who are inspired to make a difference in the world. I love incorporating novel studies, creative projects, and real-world connections into the classroom to make learning meaningful and engaging for every student.
Outside of school, I enjoy going on long walks, reading, trying new coffee shops, and painting. I cannot wait to grow, learn, and make lasting memories alongside the amazing community at NPE!
Anna Hill-5th Grade Teacher
My name is Anna Hill, and I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the New Prospect Elementary family—this time as a teacher! I attended NPE from kindergarten through fifth grade while growing up in Glenn Abby, so it feels incredibly special to be coming back home.
For the past five years, I have been teaching in Fulton County at Woodland Elementary, where I taught 5th grade math, science, and social studies. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi (Hotty Toddy!) and my master’s in Elementary Mathematics from Georgia State University.
Growing up, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher, and I truly feel like I’m living that dream every day. I love building strong relationships with my students and creating a classroom where every child feels seen, valued, and encouraged to grow into their fullest potential. I’m especially passionate about STEM and get very excited when it’s time for science!
Outside of school, you can usually find me with my puppy, Hobbs, playing mahjong, exploring antique stores, or designing a new piece of jewelry—my friends say I have too many hobbies! I also enjoy golfing with my dad and younger brother, especially during the summer, and I love to travel. I’m hoping to make it to Ireland this year!
I am so excited to be part of the New Prospect community and cannot wait for a wonderful year ahead!
Tammy Plofsky-5th Grade Teacher
Hello New Prospect Family!
My name is Tammy Plofsky, and I am so happy to be back! As a returning member of the New Prospect Elementary family, I am excited to step into my new role as a fifth grade teacher, having previously taught third grade special education here. This school already feels like home to me.
My teaching background spans both special education and elementary education, and I have a deep passion for inclusion classrooms, where every single student is a valued and integral part of the learning environment. I truly believe that when all children learn together, everyone is better for it.
I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, but eight years ago my husband, our three sons, and I made the move to the Atlanta area — and we have absolutely loved every minute of it. I feel so fortunate to be part of such a wonderful community. My husband and I love taking full advantage of everything Atlanta has to offer. You might spot us riding electric scooters along the Beltline, or out discovering the incredible variety of culturally diverse restaurants this city has. Atlanta’s food scene never gets old!
When I’m not in the classroom or out exploring the city, I also love hiking, traveling, and working in my garden — though the deer in my yard have their own opinions about that last one!
I am so looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones. It is truly a joy to be back at New Prospect, and I can’t wait to be a part of all the wonderful things this school community has in store.
Caroline Corley-2nd Grade Special Education Teacher
Hi! I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the New Prospect Elementary! My name is Caroline Corley and I just completed my sixth year of teaching, and I can't wait to bring my passion for education to New Prospect! I hold both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Special Education from Georgia College.
While I have lived in Georgia for most of my life, I actually spent my very first year of teaching out in Arizona before making my way back home. Outside of the classroom, you can usually find me outside hanging out with my pup, reading, or spending quality time with my friends, family, and younger brother. I am looking forward to an amazing school year ahead!
Holly Girten-ESOL/EIP Teacher
After four years as a New Prospect parent, I am beyond thrilled to be joining the ESOL/EIP team this year — and making it even more special, I’ll have all three of my kids here with me in kindergarten, 3rd, and 5th grade. We love NPE!
On the professional side, I bring eight years of elementary teaching experience, a master’s degree in education, and a background writing curriculum for two Atlanta-area charter schools. I love the collaborative, creative side of teaching and the joy of watching students build confidence alongside their skills.
Outside of school, I love reading, exploring new places as a family, and hiking with our two dogs. I’m looking forward to a great year!
Clay Zimmerman-IRR Paraprofessional
I spent much of my career in corporate America working with Fortune 50 companies like Eastman Kodak, BellSouth, and Philips Electronics in sales and marketing roles. After leaving Philips, I became a consultant, helping startups develop business plans and marketing strategies. In 2014, I followed my passion for real estate, earning my license and working for 10 years as an agent, onsite sales manager, and VP of Sales and Marketing for local builders.
I still sell real estate, but in 2023 I decided to try something new and became a substitute teacher to give back to my community. I worked across several elementary and middle schools in North Fulton, and after my first year, I was offered a permanent substitute role at New Prospect Elementary for the 2024–2025 school year. I’m excited to now serve as a full-time IRR SPED paraprofessional.
Outside of school, I’m active in my church and volunteer regularly. I’m a father of three and grandfather of seven (ages 2–14). I enjoy most sports—especially cheering for the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. My wife Peggy and I have been married for 43 years, and I love to travel—I’ve visited all 50 states and 27 countries.
Joe Henry-Kindergarten Special Ed Paraprofessional
Hey everyone my name is Joe Henry and this is my first year working in the realm of education! I’m currently finishing up my bachelor’s in history and look forward to someday teaching it in the future.
I’m a former college lacrosse player and will begin coaching women’s lacrosse at BT this next season as well. During the summer and fall I coach for Eagle Stix along side my girlfriend, Kaitlyn. If I’m not traveling for lacrosse or pleasure, then you can catch me at home working on computers and playing games with my friends. You’ll also usually find my 147 lbs. lap dog named Zelda following me around as well. I’m super excited to join the team and look forward to making some great connections with everyone this year!
