CES Happenings

Dear CES Family,

What a packed week at CES! You'll see some of that reflected in this newsletter in the article and collages below. I have a couple of reminders for you:

  • The 2025 CES Jog-A-Thon gets underway this coming Monday. Information will be coming home soon and the entire staff thanks you in advance for your continued support of what we are doing at CES.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming soon! We do hope that you will plan to attend. This event gets underway the week of September 29 and takes place throughout the week. Be looking for appointment dates and time coming your way in the next week or so. I know it can be tough to change personal schedules to accommodate this sort of thing, but I promise it will be worth your time!
  • A reminder about fingerprinting and volunteering at PUSD schools: Fingerprinting is mandatory if you wish to drive any CES student on a field trip. THANK YOU for being willing to support us in this way. Many of you were fingerprinted last year and another reminder that you only need to do it once during your time as a parent at CES. Still need to be fingerprinted? We have a free, on-campus opportunity for you to do so. District Office staff will be on our campus on Tuesday, September 16th, from 12:15 PM to 3:30 PM. We do ask that you sign up in advance by contacting Cheyne Gerbatz at 530-258-3194 / ext. 1201 or via email at cgerbatz@pcoe.k12.ca.us. We still have appointments available. Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Scott Cory

Principal

Honoring Our First Responders!

It was our annual tradition to honor our first responders the week of 9/11 and this year was no exception. We were honored to have representatives from Peninsula Fire, Plumas County Sheriff's Office, Lassen County Sherriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol. First responders in attendance were: Peninsula Fire Chief Robert Gray, Peninsula Fire Capt. Rylan Arbuckle, PCSO Deputy Johns, CHP Officer Taylor Fountain, CHP Lieutenant Lacey Carney and LCSO Captain Mike Carney. We are so very grateful to these public servants for their service to our community and those that surround us. Special note: a special recognition to Mike and Lacey Carney, parents of TKer Cami Carney and first grader Kinsley Carney. Not only are they listed among those that we honored as first responders, but they are a great CES family as well! Yep, this warrants a special picture as well.

A special note of thanks to Mr. Ty Watkins, an excellent teacher at CJSHS, for inviting some of our students over to the CJSHS campus to participate in a very special 9/11 remembrance event. Our third and fourth grade students were in attendance.

Guidelines for Student Illness

We love having your kids at school and really want to see them on campus every day! That being said, sickness happens and there are times when it's best for students to stay home . The image included with this article was created for PUSD staff and families in order to provide criteria for when it's OK to be and school and when it's better to stay home (click on the image to access and download it). We hope that you find this helpful. Please don't hesitate to contact our school nurse, Jessica Logan, via email (the easiest way to make contact) at jlogan@pcoe.k12.ca.us with any questions you may have about this or other things like medications at school.
