Recap of Mental Health Awareness Week
Meyer Middle School celebrated their 3rd Annual Mental Health Awareness Week the week of October 27th! The theme this year was Don’t Ghost Your Mental Health. Each day we focused on a new topic to create awareness around teen mental health:
- Don’t Ghost Your Feelings; Talk About Them
Rest Isn’t Scary
Treat Your Mind with Kindness
Carve Out Time for Yourself
There were daily announcements and a daily question that students could answer. Once students answered the daily question, they could enter their name in a drawing to win Activity Afternoon tickets! Staff were included in the fun as well. They wore green on Wednesday to show support for mental health awareness and enjoyed a treat on Wednesday.

Practicing Gratitude
Practicing gratitude can strengthen your mental well-being and deepen your social connections. Below are some recommendations from Allina Health to reflect and express thanks for the people and things in your life.
- Learning to practice gratitude can start at a young age. This skill and approach to life can improve mental health, school success and even physical health.
- Gratitude can connect you with others. Ask someone what they’re grateful for. It might help you find common ground.
- One way to develop a more grateful approach is by looking for the positive things in life. Try finding three good things each day for two weeks. You’ll soon find it’s a habit to be grateful for both big and small things in life.
- Gratitude can help you build resilience which is important for your emotional and mental wellbeing. You can write in a gratitude journal or try a gratitude meditation.
