Chromebooks

Starting Wednesday, March 12, we will return to keeping Chromebooks here in school. Please have your child bring in their charger from home so that we can set them up to charge here in the classrooms. If we suspect that we might have a FID at some point this spring, students will just bring their Chromebooks home for that night.

Please read and fill out the form below to provide feedback for a future event that we are planning. The event is geared at providing support and information to students and families to help them navigate the evolving worlds of social media, internet safety and cyberbullying.

New Elementary School Name

The Bellefonte Area School District Board of Directors will utilize an ad hoc committee of the Board to consider names for the new elementary school. The Committee will then make a recommendation to the Board for action on April 9, 2025. Suggestions may be received from members of the community, from elected officials, from school district personnel, and from students. Interested contributors should see Policy 701.1, available on the District website, for more information and guidelines. Input can be emailed to publiccomment@basd.net or sent to 318 North Allegheny Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823 with a deadline of March 13, 2025.

Cartwheel Mental Health

Our school district partners with Cartwheel, a virtual mental health care provider, to make it easier for students and families to access valuable services such as therapy, parent guidance, and more. There are openings available for this school year, and no waitlist! Cartwheel appointments can take place during or outside of school hours. If you would like to request a referral, or just learn a little more, please reach out to our counselor, Mrs. Knight or our school social worker, Ms. McClatchey to learn more about Cartwheel. We will help you with every step of the process.

News from the Nurse

On March 14, 2025, the school healthcare provider will offer school physicals for kindergarten students who have not provided a physical exam to the school nurse. A signed consent form is required. Please contact the school nurse to obtain the form. These are basic screening physicals only; no vaccinations will be administered. Again, this is only for students who have not yet turned in a completed physical form to the school nurse.

BASD Orchestra Gala

The Orchestra Gala will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at the Bellefonte Area High School Auditorium beginning at 6:30pm. This amazing event will feature every string player in the district as the Elementary, Middle, and High school orchestras each take their turn on stage. The event concludes with a Grand Finale with nearly 200 string players on stage at the same time. This unique opportunity will not only celebrate each of our orchestras but also allow us a chance to see the progress our ensembles have made this year.

PSSA Testing Window

The PSSA testing window starts on Tuesday, April 22 and runs through Friday, May 2. As a reminder, Educational Trips are not approved during the testing window for students in grades 3-5.
