Welcome Back, Marguerita Huskies!

Dear Marguerita School Community,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! What an incredible start we have had together. From the joyful energy on the first day of school to the smiles at our Ice Cream Social, the excitement of Orientation Night, and the warmth of Back-to-School Night, August was truly filled with moments that reminded us why Marguerita is such a special place. We hope you and your family enjoyed all the wonderful events and activities we shared.

Our August theme was Friendship Month – embracing our R.O.C.K. values of Respect, Ownership, Cooperation, and Kindness. We celebrated together during Share a Hug Day and Say Something Nice Day, building a foundation of connection and belonging to carry us through the year.

Now, we step into September’s theme: Hispanic Heritage Month. This month, we will honor and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. Through classroom learning, school events, and art displays, our Huskies will have opportunities to grow in knowledge and appreciation of the diversity that strengthens our school.

Mark your calendars—on September 2 we will recognize National Library Card Sign-Up Day in partnership with the Alhambra Library. Our R.O.C.K. Star Assembly will be held on September 18, a day to celebrate students who have exemplified our school values. Then, from September 22 to September 26, we will host our PTA Scholastic Book Fair during Parent Conference Week. Parent conferences will be held on September 22, 23, 25, and 26, each with a minimum day schedule. On September 26, we will also observe Native American Day/Tongva Native American Day and progress reports will be emailed home.

We are so proud to see our Huskies already stepping up, working together, and showing kindness to one another. Let’s keep the momentum going as we continue to learn, grow, and celebrate each other in the months ahead. Here’s to an amazing September and a fantastic school year!

With Husky Pride,

Marguerita R.O.C.K.s!

R.O.C.K. Goals for the Month of September!

At Marguerita, our R.O.C.K. values—Respect, Ownership, Cooperation, and Kindness—are at the heart of everything we do, and in September our focus is on helping students practice these expectations each day. Through our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) framework, we teach and model clear behavior expectations that create a safe, supportive, and positive school environment. These values are reinforced in our monthly R.O.C.K. assemblies, where we celebrate students’ efforts, and through our Husky ROCKStar Store, where students can redeem ROCKStars they’ve earned for making positive choices. Together, these practices encourage every student to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Mr. John Chae, School Counselor, Gateway To Success chae_john@ausd.us

Dear Husky families,

We are thankful for you being part of our school community! The world is constantly changing and we want to do everything we can to help our students be successful in school and in life.

We believe that students should have safe, predictable places to learn where they feel included. This year we will focus on helping students build healthy and helpful connections with classmates and teachers. A community where everyone feels included is a strong community.

This year, we would also like to hone in on attendance. Being at school consistently is critical not just for academic reasons but for real life everyday reasons. Attending everyday and on time not only allows our students to be successful learners, it builds that stamina and discipline to be successful in any career field. That sort of consistency begins now!

Some helpful tips for attendance:

  • Establish consistent routines - setting regular bedtimes and wake-up times. Prepping backpack, lunches, clothes the night before to reduce morning stress

  • Talking about the importance of attendance - explaining how attending every day builds confidence and skills. Connecting attendance with long-term goals such as college and career

  • Building positive school connections - encouraging friendships and connecting with the teacher or other staff members in positive ways

  • Celebrating attendance - Celebrate with a small treat or activity over the weekend, specifically celebrating attendance. Reinforce the idea that showing up is an accomplishment in itself

We hope to see everyone at school! It’ll be a great year Huskies!

Welcome Back! We’re excited to be back at school ready for an amazing 2025-2026.

Dear Marguerita Husky Families & Community members,

A warm welcome to returning and new families for the 2025-2026 school year from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Partnering with the staff, teachers, and families can make this a successful and enriching year for every student.

The PTA is dedicated to enhancing children's educational experiences by supporting academic needs, funding enrichment programs, and building a stronger, more inclusive school community. Working together can create an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

What we do and how you can help:

Throughout the year, the PTA sponsors various programs and events to enrich the school experience.

We already had our Ice Cream Social Friday, August 22 to welcome everyone back to school. We also successfully coordinated creating emergency kits for those who pre-ordered them. The kits will be delivered to your student’s classroom.

Upcoming we have monthly receptions after the Rock Star assemblies and our annual Book Fair coinciding with Parent Teacher Conferences Sep 22 -25. Our calendar is integrated in Marguerita’s school calendar and can be seen here.

Family support is essential for event success.

The PTA invites you to become an active participant in the school's success. Membership is a critical investment in your child's education, and there are many ways to get involved.

  • Join us: Membership provides a vote on how PTA funds are spent. You can join online at https://jointotem.com/ca/alhambra/marguerita-elementary-pta. There is no obligation of your time with membership. But each membership demonstrates your commitment to your Husky to create an environment for successful learning. Each of your students will receive 5 ROCK Stars when you join PTA!

  • Volunteer your time: Volunteers are essential for successful programs. Your time and talents are invaluable, whether you have an hour to give or can help lead an event. There are many opportunities for different schedules. Look for a volunteer sign-up list at upcoming events. Please reach out to Mrs. Rosemary Marin (marin_rosemary@ausd.us) on how to volunteer at Marguerita.

  • Attend meetings: The first PTA meeting was held with Back to School night. Our next PTA general association meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, October 16, 2025, 4:45pm. This is a great way to learn about upcoming initiatives, and share ideas.

Stay connected:

Stay informed with important updates and information:

  • Visit the website at www.margueritapta.org

  • Follow the Facebook page at fb.com/ptamarguerita

It will be a fantastic year, and we look forward to meeting you at school events. For questions or suggestions, please reach out to president@margueritapta.org.

Let's make this an amazing year together.

Sincerely,

Deb Diaz

Traffic Safety Reminders

1. Pull your vehicle up as far as you can during the drop off/pick up times. This will allow the cars behind you to do the same.

2. Do not double-park when dropping off or picking up your students. Please make sure your student(s) access your vehicle curbside - not in the street.

3. Present Yourself at the Gate Campus Supervisors and Yard Duties will not release your TK-4th grade child if you (parent/guardian) do not present yourself at the gate. Please remember that this policy keeps your child safe during very busy gate release times.

4. No U-Turns: Please do not make a U-Turn near or adjacent to our school.

5. Do not park or leave your vehicle unattended: in any area that is not intended for parking (i.e., double parked, red zone, bus zone, etc.,)

6. Please do not park your vehicle in any driveway Please respect our neighbors and their driveways. As such, please do not load or unload your child while parked in any driveway.

7. Always cross the street at the crosswalk (or end of street). If your child walks to/from school, please have a conversation with them about always using a crosswalk and watching for oncoming traffic. Please do not encourage your child to cross in the middle of the street to get to/from your vehicle.

8. Recognize our school zone and posted speed limits- and obey all other traffic signs on and around school property.

9. Reduce your speed when traveling around the school.

10. Be aware of an unusually high concentration of children and families in and around our school.

11. Be on the lookout for school buses and children entering and exiting the bus.

12. Expect increased traffic and delays. Please allow yourself extra time when coming to and from Marguerita Elementary.

We want everyone to get to their destinations safely!

School safety is always our first priority! Our message to our students, staff and community is, “See Something, Hear Something, Say Something - Report it!” If there is a school safety concern or threat of violence, always report it to the school and police. Each one of us (students, parents, families, guardians, community members) play an important role in school and community safety. Never hesitate to report a safety concern.

Additionally, as part of Marguerita’s Earthquake and Disaster Preparedness Program we are requesting that each child be provided a Personal Survival Kit to be stored in the classroom. Should a disaster, such as an earthquake, fire, or flood occur, there is a possibility that your child/children would need to remain in school for up to 72 hours- especially if access to and from school is too dangerous or unavailable. It would therefore be necessary to have some food and drink to sustain your child during this time.

For more information on needed items, please visit [2024-2025] Survival Kit Letter and Content List
