Our semi-annual blood drive will be happening Thursday, September 19. Each donor will have the opportunity to donate one pint of blood which can save up to three lives, whether it be patients of nearby hospitals or victims of unfortunate disasters. Community members, teachers, and students are able to donate. Seniors who donate twice in their senior year (or have an adult donate for them) are eligible for a honor cord from Carter blood care. Donors must be at least 16 years old. Students under the age of 17 require parental consent.

A Message from the Trail Blazer Clinic

Fall seasonal allergy symptoms have begun!!!

Allergy symptoms include:

· Sneezing

· Nasal congestion

· Runny nose

· Itchy, watery, red eyes

· Itchy throat

· Coughing

· Headache

There is no real cure for seasonal allergies, but it is possible to relieve symptoms.

Don’t forget to administer medication, eye drops or nasal sprays before school if needed or prescribed by your physician. We do not excuse students with allergies from participating in class. If an alteration in the school day activities is necessary due to a medical diagnosis, a written note from a physician with the diagnosis and specified period of time necessary for an alternation (start date and end date) is required.

AP & Advanced Classes Drop Window

Beginning Wednesday, September 11th students can pick up an “Advanced/AP Drop Form” from their teacher(s) or in the counseling office. This form must be complete for any change to be considered.

This form must be completed and turned in no later an 4:30pm on September 20th, 2024. All changes will take effect Monday, September 23rd, 2024, and not sooner.

Schedule changes will be made only to those who want to change levels of class, out of an advanced or AP, level down only. We are not able to make any other schedule changes or accept any other types of change requests. This process will require both Teacher and Parent signatures for approval.

  • 11th/12th Grade ONLY: You may request Late Arrival, Early Release if you do not already have 2 on your schedule. Students must have transportation and cannot stay on campus during the Late Arrival/Early Release period.
  • AP with no lower level: The following courses do not have a lower-level equivalent and can only be dropped to release/late arrival. If your course is required for graduation your counselor will give you your options to ensure you meet all graduation requirements. AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1,2, C, AP Spanish 4 or 5, AP Euro, AP Music Theory, AP Calc BC, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Art courses. AP Computer Science, AP French 4, Spanish 3 Adv
  • AP Seminar can be dropped at 6 weeks in 11th/12th only.

If a change is needed and will impact graduation requirements. A counselor will work with you on next steps, but a form must be submitted no matter what.

Changing your schedule now may impact your teachers, and your current class schedule. Not all changes will work with all schedules and may not be possible. Previous versions of your schedule will not be granted after a change has been made. We cannot undo changes. We are unable to predict in advance what your schedule will look like with the change. If you are going into an on-level class, the grade from the 1st 6 weeks does follow to the new class and will be a part of your Q1 average. Please note that not all courses have an on level or lower equivalent to change. If there is not an available option, the course will remain. Speak with a counselor if you have questions or concerns about classes that can impact graduation.

Reminders Reminders

Digital PSAT Day - October 2

All FISD 10th and 11th grade students are automatically registered to take the PSAT/NMSQT, free of charge, during the school day on October 2, 2024. The PSAT helps students identify academic areas of strength and growth, as well as prepare for college entrance exams like the SAT. The PSAT/NMSQT is also the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program for students in 11th grade and the National Recognition Programs for both 10th and 11th grade students.

This fall the PSAT/NMSQT will be administered in a digital format that will provide an overall easier testing experience for students. Your student will take the PSAT/NMSQT on October 2nd using their own school-issued device. Students are strongly encouraged to opt-in to the District’s 1 for All Chromebook program to ensure device compatibility with online testing. If your student has not opted in to the 1 for All Chromebook program, there will be a limited number of Chromebooks available on test day on a first come, first served basis.

IMPORTANT PSAT INFORMATION FOR ALL STUDENTS – WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2

Grades 9 and 12

All FISD 9th and 12th grade students will have late arrival and report to campus at 12:15pm.

Grades 10 and 11

The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered on campus on Wednesday, October 2 to 10th and 11th graders only.

Testing will begin at 9:00 AM sharp and anyone who arrives late will not be allowed to test. Students taking the PSAT are not permitted to access cell phones or smart watches during the exam. Devices must be powered off and stored in a designated location during the exam. If a student is observed with any prohibited electronic device in the testing room or during a break their scores will be canceled.

Students will receive an email by September 30 with their test room number.

Students with late arrival 1A must arrive by 9:00 AM. Students who will miss a dual credit course due to the PSAT must communicate with their professor prior to test day.

Students should bring the following on test day:
