November 2-6

Principal's Message and Next Level Shout-Outs
Good afternoon, Panther Students and Families,
We hope everyone is enjoying the extended break and taking time to rest, recharge, and reset for Quarter 2. Report cards will be available on ParentVUE on November 10. Quarter 2 will begin with some adjustments to support students who need to improve their grades or pass required assessments for graduation.
- Students who did not pass a core subject will be asked to complete Learning Recovery to show mastery of Quarter 1 work and improve their grade. Students and families will receive emails with Learning Recovery instructions, and assignments are due on December 18, 2026.
- Seniors who need to pass an SOL test to earn a verified credit will receive SOL test prep during their early release period in the Level Up Lab. School Counselors will meet with these students, explain the schedule change, and communicate with families before making any changes.
- Students who did not pass four or more classes will meet with their administrator and school counselor to discuss Learning Recovery and additional interventions. Families will be invited to attend this meeting with their student, and the meeting will explain the next steps.
Our goal is to partner with students and families to help all students succeed.
Small changes lead to big changes. If we do our best every day, we will make a lasting IMPACT and be NEXT LEVEL. We hope everyone has a great weekend and appreciate your support of our staff and students!
Welcome to Ms. Tiffany Johnson
Please welcome our newest Spanish teacher, Ms. Tiffany Johnson.
Hello, Potomac Falls Family! I am Tiffany Johnson, and I am excited to be joining the Panther Community as the new Spanish Teacher. I'm originally from South Coastal Georgia (the Savannah, Georgia area). I bring over 16 years of experience teaching high school Spanish. ¡Me encanta; es mi pasión! When I'm not helping kids discover new cultures or giving oral exams in Spanish, you can probably find me with a good book, cooking one of my Puerto Rican/Creole fusion dishes for my son, caring for my houseplants, or strolling through the aisles of my beloved TJ Maxx!
Girls Cross Country Team Qualifies for States!
This past Wednesday night, the girls' cross-country team placed second at the Regional Championship Meet, officially qualifying them to compete at the State Meet! Their success is a testament to their personal determination and the excellent coaching by Coach Lisa Johnston, Coach B, and Assistant Coach Summer. The team will be representing Potomac Falls High School for the first time since 2017 at the State Meet on November 7th at Oatlands Historic House & Gardens. We are so proud of you!
CAMPUS at JMU & INOVA
The CAMPUS program is designed to provide first-generation college bound high school students with the resources, guidance, and support they need to successfully navigate the college admissions process and enroll in post-secondary education. This program includes FREE field trips to college campuses and other career-related endeavors. The CAMPUS class replaces students' Study Hall block. Students participate in a 30-45-minute CAMPUS lesson and have the remaining class time as Study Hall. CAMPUS lessons focus on academic and college/career preparation.
Recently, CAMPUS students visited James Madison University to tour the campus and receive information about admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and other academic opportunities. Students also visited the Inova Loudoun Hospital and were able to view surgical procedures, speak with doctors, test out PT/OT equipment, and learn how to pursue a health-related career and what education is required for it.
If your student is interested in attending college after high school and they are the first in your family to attend college, tell them to speak to their counselor to receive info about how to sign up for CAMPUS next year.
Send Your Own Shout-Outs
Attention all staff and students, please use this link for shoutouts! Other students, staff, volunteers, and community partners deserve recognition for their positive contributions to our Panther Community. Parents and guardians, we want to include you, too! If you are a parent or guardian and want to shout out another student or staff member, please email Dr. Woolever.

Thank you for helping us make room for joy, not hunger, this Thanksgiving. Give today on the Food For Neighbors website: www.FoodForNeighbors.org"

Learner's Permit Remote Testing
We are excited to announce that remote testing for the VA Learner's Permit two-part knowledge test will begin soon for PFHS students. Parents must email Misty.Keller@lcps.org to begin the registration process. Students MUST be registered to test on a specific date. Each testing date will be limited to 10 students. Test dates include Oct. 19 and Nov. 4, and we will add additional dates each month.
Students are eligible for the Learner's Permit test if they are at least 15 years and 6 months old, have reviewed the VA driver's manual, are prepared to take the exam, and have not attempted a Learner's Permit test in the past 15 days. Students may attempt the Learner's Permit knowledge questions at a remote testing location (PFHS instead of DMV) only on the first and second attempts. Any 3rd or additional attempts must be made in person at the DMV.
On test day, students must have the following: completed online registration for that specific date with a confirmation number, a signed DTS-41 parent permission form (available in the counseling office), and a photo ID; no exceptions. Students will receive their results immediately and may then take their testing certificate to the DMV to obtain the Learner's Permit; appointments are recommended. The testing certificate DOES NOT allow students to drive.
More information on the Virginia graduated licensing laws, the VA Learner's Permit, study materials, and Teen Drivers can be found here: https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/licenses-ids/learners/teen.
