Principal Message Principal Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Wow! What an exciting end to and exciting week of activities. Friday we had track and field day, and it was amazing to see so many parents, guardians, grandparents and families come out to help and support our kids. I thank all of the volunteers, with an extra special thank you to the School Council and cooking volunteers that had our kids start off the day with a boost of energy from the colourful pancake breakfast, recharge at lunch with hotdogs and watermelon, and then top up their energy with an afternoon freezie. I also want to thank Miss Weninger for organizing the event and her grade 3/4 class for helping set up.

Other exciting events this week included our JK field trip to the Wildwood Library and the last day of JK for the year. That was also Mrs. Hicks last day as our JK teacher, she will be transitioning to the front office for the 2025-2026 school year. We had our grade 4 grandparents program wind up, thank you to all the volunteer that made this years grandparents program a success. Our grade 6s wrote their ELA written section on Wednesday, their next PAT will be June 12th.

While all of this was going on we had our spirit week theme days, it was great to see so many students participating. I have included a few pictures, but there are even more on our school Facebook page.

GYPSD will be hosting a parent digital information session on June 11th regarding the digital report card, please see link or the poster further down in this newsletter.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Sincerely,

Alan Stoyles

Principal

Our automated safe arrival system has been running for a few weeks now. We are gong to make a slight update. Spotlight on School Success: PATs Spotlight on School Success: PATs

What are PATs? PATs are short for Provincial Achievement Tests. Each year students in Grades 6 and 9 write these tests in 4 core subjects. English, Social Studies, Math and Science. (this year we will not be doing Science because of the new curriculum). These tests are standardized tests that are written across the province and give us a snapshot of where our students are at, as well as wider trends in education.
