The boys' soccer team had two games last week. They played Tunkhannock on Monday losing 9 to 3, Ben Allis twice and Joe Staton scored the goals. They played on Tuesday night Towanda losing 3 to 2, and Clayton Frasier had both goals for Northeast. Next week Northeast will play the last two games of the season. Starting Monday, they face NP-Liberty at the last home game of the season at 4:00 PM start. The boys finished the season with a win over Montgomery! Great season gentlemen!!

The Lady Panthers did not have much action last week, having only one game last week. They played Athens on Wednesday, October twelfth losing 2-1, Lizzie Gorsline had the only goal. The girls finished their season on Wednesday with a 3-0 win against Towanda. Kayleigh Thoman netted two goals and Lizzie Gorsline scored the third. Great season girls. Best of luck in Districts!

Volleyball

This week Northeast had 2 big wins against Sayre and Canton. Our first game at canton ended with varsity taking a 3-1 win. Abby O’Conner had 5 kills, and Emma Neuber got 7 kills. Gabby Susanj had 17 assists. Kelsea Moore and Toni Herb both got 3 kills. Jv also won against Sayre. Kamryn Edsell did a good job with 6 kills, and Amanda Allabaugh had 4 kills. Adrian Chobot dug the ball 6 times. Both JV and Varsity won in 3 sets against Sayre on Thursday. Thursday was a great day for our varsity hitters. Toni had 10 kills, and both Abby and Emma had 9. Gabby had a great day setting, racking up 25 assists. Alexis Corter had a total of 3 blocks and 3 kills. The libero, Kiara DeLancey had 20 digs and 2 aces. Our second set for JV was quite interesting, as the score went up to 31-29, rather than ending at the usual 25. Kamryn Edsell had an impressive 10 kills, and Abby Chobot had 5 aces. Come support the lady panthers this Tuesday for the pink-out game!

Junior High Volleyball

The volleyball season for our junior high girls is over folks! Our final games were played at Williamson middle school against Towanda, Wyalusing, and Athens, and then finally playing Williamson in the championship. Sadly our girls could not take the lead from Williamson, losing by a close 12-15. But our team has improved so much through the season, even being complimented by the referee after the Williamson game. Our thanks go out to Coach Savannah Gardner for stepping up this year to coach our girls. We hope to see you, 8th graders, at JV next year!

Cross Country

The cross-country team had a successful outing at the NTL Coaches Invitational. For the boy's team, they took 3rd just behind Cowenesque Valley and Towanda. Creed Dewing took third, Norman Strauss took 12, and Aiden Kapr took 15 which earned them a trophy. The girl's team had a strong showing taking first. Gracelyn Laudermilch took first, Anaiah Kolesar took third, Melanie Shumway took fifth, Amelia Kapr took 11, and Makenna Callear secured the win for the team with a 24th-place finish. For the junior high team, Kara Dughi and Jackson Martin both took fifth. The team also got the combined score first place trophy.

Sciences

Chica is growing fast and recently upgraded to a new cage. The genetics class also has a chick growing outside the shell. The chick is a week old and you are able to see the veins and heartbeat. Ask to stop by Mrs. Lamphere's room to see it growing.

Music

This Friday is a Tech Workday for our musical cast. This will start at 6 p.m. and will come to a close at 8 p.m. Reminder to our cast members, if you have any family free that day who have a hand in building or are artistic, don't be afraid to have them join us Friday night. We are looking for all the help we can get making our props and scenes. We hope to see you there!

7th Grade Presentations

There have been many presentations around the school! Mr. Russell has had some kids present on a plant and an animal. Carly Wheaton, Sophie Bennet, and Clay Wilkes made a presentation on cactuses and cows. They had many interesting facts on Cactuses. They talked about how the waxy skin of the cactus prevents water loss, and it protects itself against predators using its glochids, which harm the animal that eats it. Meredith Roberts, Brianna Pelka, and Gabe Jane created a presentation on the Giant Water Lily and the Echidna. A fun fact about the Giant Echidna is, “the giant leaves are big enough for children to sit in.” The Echidna is an animal that lays eggs and has a pouch, which I didn’t know until I watched the presentation. Keegan Slayer, Nolan Finch, and Khloe Greene did a presentation on the venus fly trap and the grizzly bear. One interesting thing they mentioned was Grizzly bears being able to lower their heart rate and body temperature when they get cold!
