Our staff has been all smiles as they make name tags, prep materials, decorate classrooms and create a warm and welcoming learning environment. It takes a lot of work and a lot of help! Family members came in to help during our Monday Night Marathon and just a little pizza break made their day! These are just a couple of snapshots of everyone coming together with the excitement of a new school year.

We can't wait to meet our Primary Wildcats! On Wednesday, August 21st, grades 1-8 will have their first day of school, but Woodland Primary will host our Welcome Times on August 21st. This is a chance for you to bring your child to see their classroom, drop off their supplies, and meet the teacher and our staff! Parents will choose to attend the morning or afternoon session with their child. Parents will transport their child to the school and attend the session with their child. During this visit, students should bring their school supplies to unpack in the classroom.

Please note that you will also receive your child's bus tag when you come to Welcome Times.

Monolingual Kindergarten

8:00-9:30 or 12:00-1:30 p.m.

Dual Language Kindergarten

(Students should go to their homeroom teacher's classroom to drop off supplies and meet the teacher, then you will visit your partner teacher's classroom)

9:00-10:30 or 1:00-2:30 p.m.

Early Childhood and WELE

AM students: 8:30-10:00 a.m.

PM students: 12:30-2:00 p.m.

When you come to visit your child's classroom on Wednesday, August 21st, for our Welcome Times, we invite you to visit other areas of the Primary School so you and your child get the full experience! Staff will be stationed in the specific areas below, please plan to spend about 15 minutes in your child's classroom and then come visit our stations.

Suggested Schedule for Welcome Times:

Stop 1: Go to your child's classroom, we will be in the main entrance to help you find your way!

Stop 2: Visit our Playground (K is on the west side and EC/WELE on the east side)

Stop 3: Visit our bus station-practice boarding and sitting on one of our buses

Stop 4: Wiley's Pop-Up Shop! Come see Wiley, meet our Family Coordinators, get in our Seesaw and Teaching Strategies Gold contest and much more!

Staff will be strategically stationed around the school to help guide you on your way.

Please note that stations will be open between 8:00-11:00 a.m. for our morning session and 12:00-2:50 for our afternoon sessions. Stations will be paused for staff lunch between 11:10-11:50.

During our Welcome Times, Wiley will be hosting his Pop-Up Shop! Wiley will be in our Multi-Purpose room for hugs, handshakes and high fives. Wiley is our Woodland mascot and promotes and models our ROAR expectations for our students. Each month Wiley will be at the Primary School for our ROAR spirit rallies. Special ROAR t-shirts will be on sale in Wiley's Pop-Up Shop and we will have cold ice cream treats for sale, too! Ice cream treats will be on sale for $1.00! If you order a special ROAR t-shirt, you get an ice cream treat free! All proceeds from Wiley's Pop-Up Shop will go directly to our ROAR fund to be used for prizes and student rewards.

Purchases in Wiley's Pop-Up Shop are optional, but still plan to stop by to enter Wiley's Back to School raffle! Put your child's name in to win a super family fun basket from Wiley. Get ready to ROAR with Wiley for a great school year!

Come for coffee and pastries and meet other parents!

After taking pictures, giving hugs, meeting the bus driver, and maybe even shedding a few tears … join us on the 1st day of school for coffee and pastries at the Primary School. Connect with other parents and celebrate the first day of school and this new adventure together!

New this year we will have professional development for our staff every Friday, starting on Friday, August 30th. Kindergarten students will be released each Friday at 12:40 p.m. and our Early Childhood students in both AM and PM will attend with a shortened schedule. All students will have their normal lunch period. The link below will show you the entire school year schedule and the dismissal times.

Please note that our first Friday Early Release will be on 8/30. Friday, August 23rd, will be a regular day.

Special Friday Release Dates and Times for the 2024-2025 School Year

When school starts next week, you will see school buses filled with children on the road. At the Primary School, when you enter our parking lot, all cars need to go directly to the left to park in our parking lot. Cars aren't allowed to pull in to our bus lane, park in the bus lane or drop off in the bus lane. We thank you in advance for keeping our bus lane clear for buses.

In addition, a graphic has been included below about safety on the road when a bus comes to a stop. Remember, bus drivers are doing their best to safely transport our students each day. We are grateful for their dedication each day in keeping our students safe.
