Gayman Pumpkin Patch:
Get Ready for Gayman’s ANNUAL Pumpkin Patch in the Library!
Each October, we love to put our students’ and families’ creativity on display by creating a pumpkin patch in the library. All students and families are invited to work individually or as a team to create a pumpkin at home to bring in to share for this year’s patch.
FAQ's:
Q: Can I cut my pumpkin!?
A: Only if it is fake. Real pumpkins that are carved rot in our cozy library. You may poke things into the pumpkin.
Q: Can I use more than one pumpkin for my creation?
A: Absolutely!
Q:Is this a contest?
A: This is a celebration of creativity-not a contest. All participants will receive a 2025 participation ribbon.
Q: Is there any type of decoration that I can't do!?
A: Please stay away from anything that couldn't be worn as a costume in our Halloween parade (blood, weapons, etc.).
Got more questions!? - Contact Mrs. Thomas at hthomas@cbsd.org
All the information needed—including drop off procedure for October 27th and pick up procedures for October 31st are outlined in our flier.
Halloween Parade Information:
The Halloween parade will be on Friday, October 31st at 9:00AM. Parking will be limited. If possible, please consider carpooling.
Students will walk out of the building (near the flagpole) and parade on our sidewalk around the school. After reaching Burnt House Hill Road, they will turn and walk to the back playground and re-enter the building by the gymnasium.
NOTE: We will walk the parade route twice.
**Kindergarten students will lead the parade, followed consecutively by the other grades.
Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school. Please have your child bring their masks and/or accessories to school in a bag with your child's name on the bag. Please use your best judgement in costume selection. Costumes of a violent or scary nature are discouraged. There should be no weapons of any kind brought to school on Halloween.
Kindergarten Parade Plans:
October 31st is a half-day of school. PM kindergarten attends.
All AM Kindergarten students are invited to participate in the outdoor parade. Please bring your child to the entrance under the Gayman Elementary School peak, in front of the school, by 8:45AM. (Door #17) Mrs. Peck will bring the AM class to Mrs. Hofmann's room and they will lead the parade. Please pick up your child after the parade at the drop-off location.
Halloween Party Information:
Parents who are volunteering should enter through the doors under the Gayman Elementary School peak. (Door #17) This will be the only open door. There will be preprinted visitors' badges. We appreciate your help in providing a SAFE and enjoyable experience for the entire Gayman community.
**If you are volunteering and you do not think we have scanned your ID in our new badge system, please either check in at the office prior to signing in for the party or stop by any day before the party and we can add you to the system.
If you are assisting with the classroom party at the end of the school day and choose to take your child home with you at dismissal, we ask that you sign them out in their classroom with their homeroom teacher. If picking up siblings from a class you are not volunteering for, please go to the office and we will call your child down for dismissal.
Veteran Guest Speakers - November 11th:
To mark this special day, we are hosting "Veteran Class Speakers" on Tuesday, November 11th.
Any veteran, or someone currently serving in the military, is invited to speak to a class. The time of the presentation will be determined by the teacher and speaker.
A 20-minute presentation would include:
- A description of your military job/responsibilities
- A favorite memory from your service
- Questions from the students
Our hope is for every class to have a speaker, please let us know if you are able to do more than one presentation. NOTE: While we will make every effort to match you with your child's (grandchild's) class, you may be speaking to a different class.
Email Jennifer Costello at jcostello@cbsd.org by November 4th if you are interested in coming in to speak.
To all of our veterans - thank you for your service!
Wall of Heroes:
To honor the men and women who have served, we are creating a Wall of Heroes! Please feel free to choose one template, add a photo or draw a picture, and then, send it in with your child to the Gayman Main Office. Your family member/friend will be honored on our Wall of Heroes!
These posters will be hanging in the main hallway of Gayman for the month of November.
