Murray Elementary School
A Great Place to Grow
February 2026
Principal's News
We are so happy to be back in school after all the snow! We have had a terrific few days of learning and getting back into our routines. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we all navigated the snow and ice—and searched for ice melt.
James Lorenzoni represented our school at the Division Spelling Bee and did an outstanding job, truly shining with his spelling abilities. Each year, we are amazed as we listen to students confidently spell complicated, multisyllabic words.
As we move into February, we encourage families to enjoy some seasonal fun together. Consider having a cozy family game or movie night, reading a book together, or going on a winter nature walk to look for signs of the changing season. You might also enjoy spreading kindness by writing notes to loved ones, creating Valentine’s cards, or finding small ways to help others in our community. February is a wonderful time to slow down, connect, and make warm memories together.

Key Benefits of Morning Meeting (RC Approach)
- Builds Community & Belonging: Creates a "family of learners" where everyone is known and feels part of the group, reducing obstacles to learning.
- Develops Social-Emotional Skills: Provides consistent practice for empathy, positive communication, listening, and collaboration through its four components.
- Sets the Tone for Learning: Transitions students from home to school, focuses attention, and signals the start of important work.
- Supports Academics: Integrates academic skills (reading, writing, math) into engaging, interactive ways, preparing students for the day's lessons.
Mark Your Calendar for Multicultual/Celebration of Cultures Night
📅 Thursday, Februay 26th from 5:30-7:00
Celebrating cultures and hosting a multicultural night is important because it brings people together through understanding, respect, and shared experiences.
A multicultural night also creates a sense of belonging. When people see their culture recognized and valued, they feel seen and respected. At the same time, it encourages curiosity and openness, reminding everyone that diversity is a strength rather than a barrier.
Most importantly, celebrating different cultures fosters unity. It shows that while we may come from different backgrounds, we can connect through common values like family, creativity, and community. By honoring our differences, we build a more inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment for everyone
Dinner will be provided!
Don't miss out on this opportunity for family fun and growth. We can’t wait to see you there!
